  1. 341 is a great saw, bit more grunt than the 260/261
  2. Thanks very much for the info:thumbup:
  3. Hi guys I have a good bit of timber ready to be milled, how much would you say roughly can be milled per day with a mizer LT40? Cheers Jon:thumbup:
  4. I can process 16 ton of green wood (ash, sycamore, alder) a day with two people in an 8 hour day, that is good straight wood mix of 4-14inch diameter, that is with a Posch 300. You can split up to 18 inch rings in the splitter which is handy.
  5. posch jon

    stihl ms341

My 341 does the same, ive had it 18months and still runs a treat. i was thinking about it the other day, also got a 441 they have newer type filters and that doesnt leak anything.
  6. Good design:thumbup1: Doesnt look like it would stand up to everyday use for long:thumbdown: I saw them at the APF, the winch looked a bit of a toy, they are very expensive nearly £30,000 i think. A 50hp crawler tractor and a winch is a much cheaper option, and much more versatile, oxtrac has no PTO or 3 pt linkage. so can only be used as a skidder. Personally I wouldnt buy one, but depends on your needs
  7. Great work, wouldnt mind one myself:thumbup:
  8. Cheers for that Murray, You dont need any Hemlock do you? haha:001_tongue:
  9. Yes wouldnt we all! Is it worth running round with only 1 cubic metre, much more efficent to have a trailer or transit pickup, you can get 3 cube on then. Diesels not cheap anymore.
  10. We were charging 70 a cube this winter for hardwood might be a bit more in the autumn. How much do you get in a navara not much more than a cube?
  11. Ah right thanks for that might give them a call and see what they are interested in. I think we might use the bigger logs for fencing etc. The logs are at Narberth. What wood mizer have you got?
  12. All felling is done now, just got to get it all out now!

    have u finished those poplar

  13. Im in west wales so i think its a bit too far, but thanks for the offer. so 50-60, thanks everyone for the comments:thumbup: We have got some western hemlock too, cant find anyone locally that will take it, so might have to be firewood.
  14. They are good little tractors, dont uswe much fuel either always good Its good in the wood, not too big and clumsy. Although i could do with another 20hp and 50k on the road when you are hauling stuff regularly 10-15 miles. You can certainly tell when there is 10 ton of wood on the back plus the trailer, I was fetching some sitka on friday, steep hill on back road no run up, started spinning, had to stop put 4wd an diff lock in and still dug up the road:biggrin: Ah well cant have everything have to wait a couple of years!
  15. We have some cedar felled this winter, Any idea what its worth have a few big logs 3ft plus and smaller stuff 16-22 inch diameter. All good straight stuff. Just wondered if anyone has any idea roughly cheers Jon
  16. Here is the beast! SAME explorer 90, hell of a tool Exhaust missing in second pic as it fell off going down the road, shows you the speed of this thing!
  17. Dont worry its all finished now! Spent about 6 days cutting out that laural, lovely stuff.
  18. Thats a tidy machine you have there is it an A95? What are they like to use and are they good on fuel?
  19. When are they releasing this then??
  20. Hi Cosworth where are you based in west wales? I am from that area what tractor have you got the roofmount on?
  21. We have POSCH 300 proccessor, its a great bit of kit alot quicker than chainsaw crosscut machines. Its done over 300 ton this winter, the 12 ton split is the business you cant stop it! Build quality is in a differnt class to palax etc they only weigh about half a ton, only made for softwood. Posch are not the cheapest machines but are the best on the market. Wilsons are pretty good to deal with
  22. Im thinking 357 and 15 inch bar, from FR Jones of course!
  23. hi guys looking for a new saw mainly for thinnings and everyday stuff. Always used stihl before so never had anything to do with huskys, im thinking of 346 or 357 which is best? or should i stick with an ms341? what do you think
  24. Do forestry trailers have to have a test or anything like hiabs on commercial vehicles?
