  1. Looks like a young Ganoderma, though too early to guess at the species. Without more photos of the tree and its form (or even better in person) it's impossible to give good advice. I'd be surprised if it 'must' go, maybe someones log pile is getting low - there are almost always alternatives to felling! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app

    green slime?

A slime mould? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  3. My sincere apologies... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  4. Could still be honey fungus, or as is common on ash, Pholiota squarrossa, with the scales washed off... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  5. I see gills, so not merip. Could be honey fungus, or is it oak? Is so could be collybia... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. I believe Peter Wharton Arb was looking into what interest there was in this subject. He's easy enough to find on google, friendly chap, give him a call. .. Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  7. I'm not talking anything underhand here, strictly above board. I don't believe those in receipt of these hmrc declared gifts would need to further declare them. I think they are seen as just that, a trivial gift. I'm thinking more if a company/organisation has passed me plenty of work over the year, I want to give a token of my appreciation - but I want to do it right and it will be going on my tax return. Does that make sense? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Also, would for instance a tag on a bunch of flowers with the company name etc satisfy the 'clear advertisement for your business' part? Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  9. As a sole trader, does the following apply to me if I want to send a gift to a particularly good client? "HMRC allows you to give a gift worth up to £50 to a client in each tax year. The small print It must be business related; it cannot be alcoholic, food, tobacco or vouchers that can be exchanged for those things. The gift must also carry a clear advertisement for your business; otherwise it would be classed as entertainment expenses. The £50 budget includes the gift-wrapping so go easy on the wrapping paper. If you do go over the limit the gift will be disallowed and liable for tax." Cheers all... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  10. Why are these ****** never caught in the act and confronted by an angry tree crew? I had them pull up while I was atop a ladder hedge cutting, pulled up and wandered over (I thought they were lost or something) so I stopped and took ear defenders off - he smiled, picked up another hedge cutter and legged it back to his car! Bloody brazen, and plenty of others have had similar experiences. Surely it's a matter of time before they turn to run as tree crew number two arives on the job too? Grrr... 11. Cheers, bit far for us though Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  12. Taking dead out would be deadwooding. If it's a 'habitat ttee' the deadwood may well be what makes it a habitat tree! Heavily reduce being- 1. Half its current height and width? 2. 2m crown reduction? 3. 5m crown reduction? 4. Reduction to a monolith? The spec is too open to interpretation! Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  13. Would 'heavily reduce the habitat tree' be accepted on a tpo app? Does it follow the work spec recommendations a la 3998? Does it leave no room for misinterpretation if different contractors are quoting for the work? I'd go back to the report author, I don't think that is an acceptable spec... 14. Awesome! Where was that, I've some littluns that would love it Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. Contact the author of the report for clarification, that's vague at best... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app

  24. Took to it well, prefered bouldering with the squishy floor though! I'm already checking fr jones for harnesses Unfortunately I have to drive an hour to Basildon, as it's the only wall I can find which will allow a child of her age to climb. Oh well... Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
  25. Not a tree, yet. Just turned 4 and had her first go in harness today, now I'll have to buy one so I can take her up a tree At Sent from my GT-I9100 using Arbtalk mobile app
