  1. Tree treatment passes lab tests | Horticulture Week New hope for tackling ash dieback as researchers claim charcoal treatment makes trees more resilient - Telegraph .
  2. Could be interesting....... Glynn Percival and Biochar .
  3. Ha, no that was a tease The picture is the Dutch guys carrying out heat treatment for HCBC .
  4. Just read that the swedes have been looking at wood properties using CT scanners since the early 90's, which is possibly where Duncan got the idea of using one to look at his fork unions. Perhaps there's a commercial market right there? .
  5. Mmmmmmm, I wonder if that will ever become a reality ? .
  6. Ha, it just so happens that the one in the hopper has just departed ! Thinking of replacing him with this fella ? .
  7. I think this is the crux of the discussion Mick .
  8. The dead wood looks like Masaria, but unlikely to be associated with the trunk dieback as its noted as a branch dysfunction/decay associate. .
  9. Watch the petty swearing fellas, or I'll close the thread. .
  10. The earliest I can find in my records are these below. The first is on oak and had been harvested before it started forming again. first shot was taken on the 28th of April but would have started fruiting a week or so before that. The second image was taken 5 days later later on the 3rd of May. .
  11. This is about the earliest date I can find of a record of Laetiporus in the UK. Although there's no photo (so it may never have happened ) and ofcourse it doesn't say whether it was a live bracket or desiccated.......... Laetiporus sulphureus, on/with Quercus, dead standing tree, woodland, 04/02/2014, England, Cheshire (VC: 59), Hale: Hale Hall, SJ4682, coll.: A.E. Carter, id: A.E. Carter, FRDBI Record No.: 1950020, Origin of Record: A.E. Carter (full record data). The latest date record seems to be this one....... Laetiporus sulphureus, on/with Quercus robur, wood trunk fallen, woodland broadleaf (A11), Alt(m): 150, 06/12/2014, England, West Gloucestershire (VC: 34), Speech House Sculpture Trail, SO6212, coll.: B. Broughton, id: G. Woolway, FRDBI Record No.: 1938426, Origin of Record: Dean Fungus Group (full record data). .
  12. I thought for a moment you were going to say you found one 'now' That would be early May is not unknown, we've had that discussion on the forum a few times down the years. .
  13. Share that with Neville, he always open to hearing feedback from delegates after or even before the seminars. I took Images of the speakers and some of their presentation slides for Nev at the last seminar at Kew, but this can be a distraction for both parties. Don't think there was any video undertaken, as far as I remember. Possibly something TEP have already considered, but worth asking him the question anyway .
  14. Not going to make this one, as there just isn't enough time/budget to get to them all. Would have liked to have heard Francis Halle speak. .
  15. Hi Paul, hope ya well me old cocker ! I imagine that the new design is a culmination of ideas and meetings of the media/branding/PR groups and 'others' Was there any consideration of putting out designs to the entire membership for consultation/opinions? We have a similar type of project on the go at the LTOA PR group considering updating of the associations logo, would be interesting to know how the AA decided upon how many people were involved in the process of developing your/our new logo. Cheers David
  16. Only perennials (and persistents) on show, no winter annuals like Flammulina? .
  17. Ring the company They reflect on us all .
  18. Ganoderma sp australe or applanatum .
  19. Spore size under microscope is the only scientific way to determine between australe and applanatum .
  20. From the Ganoderma complex. Either australe or applanatum Perenniporia has a cream/white colured flesh. .
