  1. Thanks for sharing Wolf, your fine translation of our unelequent language gives justice to your story telling skills.
  2. For the record, targets were moved, tree reduced (loose term applied here) but point being this tree is still standing today.
  3. Oh my God ! Shocking. Wake up call for all of us, even the experienced. Thanks for posting John. At least Mr death came unanounced for that poor soul.
  4. Fagus with Meripilus giganteus from 2001
  5. Is this a trick to get some poor unsuspecting tree hugging LA type to admit that he might posibly have considered or even maybe has retained such a Tree as the one in question?
  6. On road i reckon youd be fine, off road they are about as good as a wet weekend in vladivostock. I've had this 35C11D since 2001. Definately time for a change.
  7. The Tree was a DEAD Beech which we have left as a retained Monolith. The Cavity is made by boring out a wedge, cutting off up to a third away at the the back, re inserting the wedge and held in place with a tie strap. To be honest fellas, this does not have to be bat specific, but we have evidence to suggest these have been used. Second shot is same tree 4 years later.
  8. At our place of work we carry out surveys, lead really popular bat walks and create and preserve habitat. I do have a keen interest in all things Eco Arb, and am pleased to see people like your self and Nutty Arb where has he been, by the way! Alien abduction? producing great web sites and helping to spread the side of our industry that is not just confined to magazine articles and the ramblings of crazy old men. Keep up the good work Sir.
  9. Is that `Nine' as in a big German Zero ! Had the Nockies arisen from their dormacy and all flown the roost ?
  10. Thanks for the advice Peter, nothing too new to me here, but i quess i just need to think a little bit more out of the box and try out a few rigs that are away from my Blakes comfort zone. Any paticular ropes you can recommend? Cheers
  11. Chris, is the first shot a winter roost? Any idea on the numbers of Noctules inside?
  12. Have only thought about it, not as yet given it a dabble. What diam rope and associated knots/ascenders are best suited to SRT?
  13. Would you care to translate my good man? I didn't pay attention during my English Smilies GCSE classes !
  14. Thanks for the replies. I hear what your saying fellas, but out of idle curiosity, can anyone post how to set it from terra firma? Just trying to get together the nearest form of ergonomic ascent that i can, that doesn't involve a MEWP, but more realisticaly this has probably got more to do with me having a tad too much time on my hands. I'm in that Bermuda triangle that you can get lost in somewhere between reluctantly ditching the harness and trying not lo let my climbers make the same mistakes/bad habits i developed. Which have led to me having to endure far too many aches and pains. I shall now stop feeling sorry for myself, and let you get back to surfing far more interesting posts.
  15. .........and safer ! But i hear what your saying compadre
  16. Sounds like there's a thread looming for extreme hairdos coming sometime soon
  17. Why the need for two sets of records? Have you thought about losing the paper trail with the weekly LOLER checks and just inputting the data straght on to an excel spreadsheet on a PDA. This could live with the kit bags.
  18. It was Resinaceum and it melted with a really azure flame. Did the lighter test to show a work placement lad what it was.
  19. Thanks for the info Chris, do you ever use the Lionlift for Fracturing pruning/Coronet cuts?
  20. Always worth reposting old favourites IMO Tony. Newbies should get the benefit just in case they never reach the depths of the old posts.
  21. Good idea Steve, will try to put something together tommorow when i'm back amongst my reference library. Not trying to step on your Blue Suedes John, just thought id add some different examples.
  22. Hello Chris, what species of Bat are in the roost, and what did you use to `cap' the storm damage? Lastly, whats your MEWP? Cheers David
  23. Fine pictures John, thanks for sharing. With your fungal passion, have you ever thought of running a work shop? I'm a bit partial to good Gano meself
  24. Just a little bump on this thread. Question for New Forest, did you get round to getting the Rope Guide after your trip, If so how you getting on? Sciadopitys, did you ever get on with the Guide or did you go back to an alternative? Finaly a question for Steve, Buzz, Pete Mctree, Marc & Peter. Can you install the Rope Guide from the floor like you can a trad cam saver? appreciate your thoughts guys.
