  1. This should be brilliant fun, let's see how many people actually have any idea what this weighs! A prize for the winner, & a prize for the most far off (I think we have a winner)
  2. Hy Silky, many thanks for taking the time to check us out:) We're loving what we're doing, & doing it here just adds the cheery to the top!

    Very best wishes,

    Lindisfarne Charcoal.

  3. Nothing to do with money, nothing to do with who you employ to do it for you. Only to do with how direct your web presence is, which is ultimatley about how easy it is to find your site. This may help: How Google Works - Google Guide
  4. We get 90% of all our firewood orders online, it's a massive help to us.
  5. We spend nothing on our advertising, never paid for a search engine listing & built our own very simple site. That's not meant to be a hey look at me aren't I clever comment. But more, it is possible! If you have a product or service that people want, think about how you would look for it & ask 50 friends, that will give you an idea on what the most common words are, then you have your key words. There's a bit more to it of course, but certainly don't let anyone tell you have to pay. If you want to save money, have control over what you're doing & learn something new as well, learn to do it yourself. Most 10 year olds these days can do this stuff standing on their heads, (frustratingly) find one & get them to help you. The days of having to use web designers are long gone, not all of us need the biggest flashiest site in the world. Getting your site in the top & keeping it there will depend on how many people search for it & look at it, keep your content up to date & your keywords specific.
  6. As Rob points out, there are two ways to make your site get attention. 1: Pay for it to be a featured listed - Expensive. 2: Have a site that is likely to be found when people search for something relevant to its content. Linking to recognised sites of suitable affiliation is a good way. Once your name or product is out there & people are searching you in your own right, you will climb back up the rankings. Simply put word association or cool by association.
  7. I could, but a little mystery is better:001_tt2:
  8. Quite right, you buy one bit of kit to make life easier, then all of a sudden you need loads of other stuff! All stuff that needs to be put somewhere safe, transported, insured, maintained, filled with fuel, etc etc, We didn't produce & consequently sell as much before we got bigger, & granted we were knackered every day, but knackered from swinging an axe is a damned sight more satisfying than pushing levers & having a noisey briggs & scrappem whining in your ear all day!
  9. You've sold one bag & are giving us advice, thank you for that fascinating insight into our cultural differences:thumbup:
  10. Now that'd be telling:001_tt2:
  11. In my previous incarnation all the time, in this one, just the once last month for country file & again next month for some kiddies show.
  12. Final Cut, it's a great application.
  13. A&J Scotts of wooperton are the people to speak to. A & J Scott Ltd - Homegrown timber at its best!
  14. iPhoto is free & works very well for simple tasks. Just duplicate the image first by selecting desired image, & then press the apple key & d, that will duplicate your image. Do your work on the pic, if you don't like it when done, select said image, go to the toolbar at the top, click on photos & click revert to original. Simple as. Photoshop & the other normal suspects all good to, but for simple quick, resizing, colour enhancements, red eye, contrast, straightening etc, iPhoto takes some beating.
  15. Yep, that's what they're known as round here, but we're on the border so I guess that makes sense.
  16. Jamie, I have a project on the go that may require services such as yours, I'll be in touch. We're planning a house build, & had wanted to use some our own Larch as we have very little other use for it, other selling it. I need to know more about why we may not be able to use it, more info people, bring it on, I'm a sponge for your knowledge:)
  17. TimberCutterDartmoor I may have just wet myself:thumbup1:
  18. LogBaron, it's just not even worth the letters on your keyboard. Send the complaint in as I suggested about your copyright infringement problems, & forget the rest. Look at your business, reputation, & the high regard you're held within this site. 'nough said Very best wishes.
  19. I could, what's your budget? What postcode? We don't normally sell nets, it'd have to be cost effective for us both. Very best wishes.
  20. Landrovers all the way for me. A 2002 td5 110 commercial all suited & booted, & 95 Forestry registered 300td1 Disco with 3" lift, Anaconda tyres & pulls anything anywhere! & a Jag, but I find it's crap in the woods, but much better in the car parks!
  21. In hindsight, I've removed my comment.
  22. Selling logs globally, clearly I am out of touch & can only say good luck to you.
  23. That's very true, but unless we own our own oil stations we have very little choice in that. As far as I'm aware the people in charge of deciding what we pay for diesel aren't exactly popular. Call me old fashioned but I think the more affordable we can make logs the more sustainable the industry will become. Charging that sort of money will put folk off & the declining woodlands in this country will never come back into management & as there'll then be no demand to supply we'll all start using fossil fuels again. Just my opinion, & not meant to be taken as anything other than that. only my ethics, all should be free to do as they please. We have actually managed to lower our price every year we've been trading, & every year our turnover goes up.
