  1. Me either, but some people do daft things! and 'a picture speaks a thousand words!' Are good on power points and handouts, especialy if people cant grasp the fact that our toys bite, and bloody hard!
  2. The all mighty arnt that good then arbclimb????:001_tt2:
  3. Looking to add some more accident pics to my collection (NO Im not wierd, to use in training sessions!!) not silky saw though, have loads of those, Pics and a brief description of what/how it happened would be great. Thanks in advance gents!
  4. Initiative would tell me to ring NPTC????
  5. Having used BOTH machines, the CS is the better of the two in my opinion
  6. Wait and see what happens with lantra and nptc over the next couple years! Hope you saw my comment on training was'nt a blatent advert for lantra though?
  7. Its whats referred to as a niche machine. For the cost, weight, and size how many roller fed machines fit the bill?
  8. http://portal.lantra-awards.co.uk/ordering/documents/portfolio/396_Chainsaw%20Maintenance%20%20Basic%20FellingCLMC41X.pdf http://portal.lantra-awards.co.uk/ordering/documents/portfolio/399_Felling%20small%20trees%20CLMC43X.pdf The links above might enlighten you a little more. There is always HSE: Information about health and safety at work
  9. If your doing upto 200mm on an occasional basis (ie not working in forestry or as a tree surgeon) then Lantra will do. If over 200mm then you need NPTC units 30 & 31
  10. Its called human nature! (greed they used to call it) not everyone does it, but IT does happen!
  11. It happens all the time, get used to it if you use subbies!
  12. It works out cheaper than hiring, just!
  13. Have you tried a green wheel for the bench grinder? Genuine Rayco teeth are only £2.70 - £ 3.00
  14. I think its a drum, I never opened it up, as I didnt like the chip or the speed of it. I know one dealer who bought one for a potential customer, and once the customer saw it working he backed out and the dealer is now stuck with it!
  15. The Greenmech CS100 is a cracking machine, The GTS aint that good, having had a demo, I would rather breed some beavers and let them chew the brash!
  16. Try DSV shipping (Part of Palletline) I had a Rayco grinder (RG25) collected in Dorset and delivered to Northern Ireland for £75.00! Inc vat!!!
  17. The clearance makes a huge difference, but, quite a few manufacturers dont allow any clearance other than shims which are not the best way forward. Greenmech have the best system, where you never worry about the clearance, it is a much larger gap than other manufacturers recommend. Shliesing system is fiddly and the bolts always seize up, but another good system non the less.
  18. The blades are the same though, get a Jensen A430 and it will still chip with chunks out of the blades, the machine will produce the same standard of chip, put the machine under the same stresses and strains as if the anvil(s) were blunt/damaged/really worn. ALL of the cutting system needs to be good, working condition to chip efficiently and minimise strain to the operator and machine. ??
