  1. Farm tractor with grab on front loader and trailer.
  2. I have bought circa 2 acres of standing timber for clearfelling consisting mainly of oak ash and birch. Real nice timber but it hasn't been looked after or maintained and as such some areas are quite dense with brambles and briars. I was thinking today while I was whipping away with a slasher, there has got to be a handier way. I reckon a srtimmer/brushcutter with a metal blade would be a much better idea. Cound anyone recommend any particular make and model which would stand a bit of work. Something that I could trim grass at home with too. I have a budget equivalent to a used MS200t. Im going to sell one of my saws to fund the brushcutter.
  3. I carried out the repairs today to the ms200 I referred to in an earlier post, regarding the accelerator pump issue. I removed the aluminium plug and filled the hole with chemical metal, fitted new diaphragm set and it now runs as new. Thanks for the advice folks!
  4. Liked:thumbup1: Thanks guys for the help regarding the carb. Much appreciated as always!
  5. Thanks GTR. Is it the metal one in the bottom centre? The oval shaped one.
  6. Rather than start another ms200 related thread, I know Ill get the advise im looking for in this one. Usual fuelling problems I beleive associated with Zama "D" series carbs. Wont maintain full throttle, erratic idle, impossible to tune and stalling. I have tested crankcase and ancillary items including inlet manifold impulse hose etc for leaks, all of which held pressure overnight! I am sure its a carb problem. I dont have a known good carb to try on the saw to be sure. Compression is good also. Here is a photo of my carb. I think it is one with an accelerator pump? Could this be causing the problem and can it be blocked off or what is the normal procedure for curing this?
  7. Sorted with many thanks to Andy from AJ Garden Machinery. Didnt even know the site existed. Used Parts, chainsaw parts, new parts, pvc fuel pipe, pull cord, cylinder & piston, servicing, strimmer, used garden machinery Cheers Andy
  8. yes thats the one. Here is a photo of one.
  9. Does anyone know where I could pick up an oil tank for this old mc culloch saw. I see a couple on ebay but they are in the U.S. Im fixing it for someone else and parts usually take a month to come from america. Was hoping to get it back to him a little sooner. Though Id give it a try here first.
  10. We are a trailer manufacture and repair company based in Co Antrim NI. SDC trailers. We made this when new.
  11. Guy dropped this trailer in for some work this week. Though id share a picture as I havn't seen anything like this in my neck of the woods before.
  12. Got to be worth 2 or 3 hundred pound. Id be willing to pay that for it.
  13. We get good numbers of woodcock here compared to some, though the areas I mostly shoot round home I would generally only see about 30 a day. If I drive up onto the mountain some 10 miles away it would not be uncommon to flush 100+ on a good day.
  14. Ive been shooting about 12 years tried everything a time or two but now just shoot a couple of things. A few pigeons at harvest time a duck or two through the winter evenings but the mainstay of my shooting is woodcock. I dont have to travel far often just walking from the house. Numbers are not huge but the ground is fairly open which gives a good chance of a shot. Ill add a few pics from last season.
  15. Just thinking i've never showed my landy so here goes. Before refurb, during and after. I did say she pulled the odd heavy load! During refurb And after. She has changed somewhat since with new wheels and tyres some trim running boards A bar spots etc etc.
  16. AP Driveline formerly Borg and Beck would prob be the best of the clutches. I fitted one to my 110 3 years ago and have puled some serious loads. Main cause of a defender clutch to slip is probably oil leakage from the rear crank seal.
  17. Maybe I am a little out? I skidded out these over two evenings after work 5pm to 9. They are 5m long. I didnt measure the stack but I reckon its over 2m high and 6m wide. That totals 60m3. Allow for gaps etc ,even it is only 40m3 it still only took 8 hours to skid and stack. Id say theres around 300 logs in that stack so it takes a fair few to make a m3. Skid them out to a nice neat row, buck them at 5m lift with grab and stack. Ill be skidding again next saturday so Ill see how many I can do in a day.
  18. Mine are only about 20cm dbh with 6 chokers but doubling up logs hauling 12 at a time. Im felling in lines about 7m wide and away from the direction im skidding which makes hooking up the butts of the logs handy and speedy. The wood was never thinned as its only 20 or so years old so you can hook up a lot of logs without moving.
  19. I would be fairly confident of skidding and stacking 50 m3 a day with my standard farm tractor with the skidding arm and grab I made. I havn't had 50m to skid at the one time maybe 20-30 which takes around 4 hours to move them and stack them at roadside with a max distance of 400 metres. I skid out whole trees up to 10m in length then buck them on the landing before stacking.
  20. Last tank i bough was £96 at my local stockist. Extortionate price. Im glad I only use a tank every 12-14 months.
  21. Good job, looks well but about 50 cubic metres too small. Or maybe not everyone burns as much as me!
  22. Wish I was In somerset, would love a cutters job!
  23. I am felling a small woodland most of which I intend to keep for my own use but I may have an artic load or two to spare which will help cover my costs. Its all Norway spruce in 16ft logs ranging from 3-12" diameter. It will be stacked at roadside for collection. If I was to advertise it what sort of money should I be asking per 25 ton load, not including delivery? I am based in Northern Ireland if it makes any difference.
  24. Emailed GHS last night about the faulty piston and received this reply today. Hello, Yes this seems to be a fault with this product. I will have a replacement piston sent out to you today. Regards, So thats a good result. Not too worried about the cost, just more the fact that it wasnt something I done wrong. I always had good results with Golf pistons before.
  25. The pot is actually fine apart from a small burr on the exhaust port where the ring must have caught. I think the fact the saw was at idle when it happened really reduced damage to a minimum. I would hope to have it going again by Wednesday. I cant be without it at the minute EDIT should I try the supplier for a replacement free of charge. Think it came from GHS.
