  1. What would be the best advice for a customer if giant polypore is found at the base of a large beech tree most people I've spoke to is have it out or should we wait and monitor the extent of the decay?
  2. Does this count when your 27 mozza?
  3. she was telling me about the amount of hits a month you get on the internet i said im not bein funny but thats probably mostly down to people like you looking to sell stuff to me. Reckon i'll give it a miss cheers for the input lads
  4. thats what i was thinking rovers so thought id see if anybody has had any success she was telling me the arborists in there love it because there was only 2 but dandk said they've been out to him they must be out to all the tree lads at the minute when i got in the car there was already sawdust on the seat too come to think of it
  5. they were lovely like haha cant really decide what to do a couple of good jobs and it would pay for itself i thought just depends if they come.
  6. been thinking about local papers and parish mags think it will all depend on the area we have expensive advertisement elsewhere which doin ok so maybe a couple of cheaper options like that would be good cheers
  7. so they send women out down there too sneaky buggers. Thought the price would be worth it if it brought plenty of work
  8. hi lads had thomson local out to see us was wondering if anyones views on them ive personally never looked in there for anything. Told them i would have a think about it for a week because they sent out two good looking lasses with tight shirts on and i wasnt thinking straight at the time:blushing:
  9. I've always wondered this myself, I stick to the rules and only use spikes on fells but can't see them doin much damage. I know they make a vector for disease to get in but what about the big pruning cuts aare spike marks so much worse?
  10. I was thinking along the same lines mate I've sent the bill see and I'll see what happens next I've had a couple of good days since so I've cheered up a bit
  11. I know geoff it makes you sick we all work hard for our money on here. Mark that's a classic nearly spat my dinner out reading that haha
  12. I might just accept it but tip the waste back on the drive and explain I couldn't possibly be seen stealing their woodchip
  13. I wasn't sure about that I'd just messed up it's the only time I haven't sent one typical isn't it, I carried out on her other tree which looks great and I have plenty of letters of thanks so I suppose I can prove I don't just go round pollarding trees
  14. Haha read your thread dean bet he was gutted when you just laughed at him, I've been thinking the same he must be really rough if he has to get his wife to ring me and tell me. She told me to send the bill but she doesn't know what will happen she's gonna try and calm him down so he's obviously gonna send a cheque for less like a coward and hope there's no come backs.
  15. Only 350 quid mate it's just the principal what's wound me up the most is her telling me her husband is rough! I wonder if she does the same with British gas
  16. Sounds more promising than the lad I met ha
  17. I should of sent a quote was just too busy and trusted her so it is a valuable lesson, they said they just don't to pay the full price I'm gonna send the invoice see what happens if it's a hundred pound short or something think I better take the chip back and tip it on the drive, I wouldn't be so bothered but I didn't want to pollard it anyway but she talked me into it. Anyway reduced two trees today for a customer and it was more than twice the price and he couldn't be happier said the trees look natural and struggles to find the cuts I've made made
  18. Where abouts are you based mate a lad came up to me the other day when we were on site asking for work seemed really keen has all his tickets also electric tickets he's based in the consett area I know where he live could ask him for you mate wish I had something for him seemed a canny lad
  19. Cheers lads good advice, I know what you mean andy I didn't send a quotation with this one was in the middle of moving and just done it all over the phone this is a valuable lesson I suppose. It has gutted me if she genuinly thinks I'm a cowboy but I do reckon they pulling stunts the neighbours said what they are like even her father mentioned something. You gotta laugh though when he's supposed to be really angry and really rough but he has to get his wife to ring up and tell me this
  20. I was telling myself the same earlier mate was in the middle of moving at the time mate and she sounded genuine didnt send quote etc I know it's a learning curve but it guts me I'm professional and like to do a good job I don't even like doin pollards because it's not a good advert but she was so pushy I wouldn't be so wound up if she didn't try and scare me saying her husband is rough
  21. I'll send the invoice and see what happens the neighbours said he threatened a woman with a hammer for working on her house at seven pm and his wife says he's rough sounds like a set up for a free job to me I'm not scared of anyone and will meet this bloke anywhere he pleases but if it kicks off could it finish my business
  22. I've just started a thread on this type of thing but with a little private job his wife told me they don't want to pay and he's quite rough I'd love to punch this rough blokes face in but that wouldn't be good for business we are a fily business and work for fair prices take pride in our work it really tests you when someone wants to take advantage of you I have twins on the way and I see it as thoughthese peopleare taking money from them but suppose it's part and parcel of our job
  23. Done a job today lady wanted a cherry tree pollarded and a birch reducing, I explained how bad the cherry would look and how much I didn't want to do it but she wouldn't listen, the call was over the phone as she now lives down country I've done the job and her father sent her pics now she's saying I don't want to pay as it looks bad I explained I've done what I said a nd what she said but she says I didn't think it would look like that then proceeded to say her husband is livid and "he's rough you know". They're obviously pulling a fast one but I don't know where I stand to get my money??? I said to her it's not like I don't know what I'm doing as she was impressed with what I done on the birch said it looks natural and untouched, the cherry looks that way because that's what she asked for, I even put a cheap price in because it's on my doorstep and she sounded canny sorry for the rant lads
  24. I was wondering wether it would be better or worse thought it would make it better I thought the engine labouring would put the stress on the clutch I'm crap with mechanics
  25. I know sounds too good to be true though doesn't it more power and better fuel economy a friend of mine got his van done and said it is a lot better but it's only used for motorcross so isn't pulling much weight would like to hear of a tree surgeon who has had it done
