  1. I have two wood burning stoves in my house so that the downstairs is covered. Heat from burners doesn't travel well unless you have lots of people traffic to push the air about so heating upstairs doesn't work, well not in my house and the others I have had anyway. I know the French rig up hot air systems so that heated air gets pushed to the upstairs, might be worth looking into how they do this.
  2. I have to disagree with most on this thread and say that having owned 4 Defenders none of mine have leaked any water unless of course I have purposely submerged it. I did however buy a new 06 plated one that did show the leak and after driving it back to the dealer they sorted it within an hour. It is fixable and something that you shouldn't have to put up with.
  3. The Ifor is £3085 as an apple for apples comparison. Anyone know what the second hand resell value is for an Atlas compared to the Ifor?
  4. Interesting comments about pricing. I paid £3510 + VAT for my Ifor TT105 and it came with the weldmesh extended sides, ladder rack, steel skids and stabilisers. I understand from my dealer that Ifor are keen to do business (or were at least this time last year when I bought mine) as someone shipped an Ifor TT to a Chinese factory and got them to bang out a direct copy. I know nothing about the Atlas Tipper so before anybody reads anything into the last sentence it has not been written with any malice, just balancing up the costs conversation.
  5. My Go Pro on burst mode, Falling at around 130MPH Pretty good I think for something about as big as a fag packet.
  6. Why would a fraudster scour the Internet forums on the basis that a user name may or may not be in fact a real name. Why not just use the telephone book or the electoral register both of which hold accurate data. IMO Using your real name on a forum is not leaving you open to being being hacked any more than someone saying your first name and surname in a pub. Que a million nigerians hacking into my bank account now
  7. Very much so and very envious if that's the right word to use.
  8. As are the deer shots, your album is unlocked and I couldn't help but have a nosey.
  9. Its a shame but you are right. I was going to put that in my post, everything has to be dumbed down to the lowest common denominator these days.
  10. Re two handed use. I appreciate that two handled machines are the safest but in reality wouldn't you have to be a bit of a Joey to stick your hand between the blade and the log? And if that is the case....As people buy these machines for speed and efficiency then why not just stick to the single handed operation?
  11. It just goes to show how effective trackers are.
  12. I lay down pallets, then form a circle with stock fencing, put this on the pallets, then all you need to do is chuck the logs in. You can then either double stack them or put a tarp on top. I learnt this from another thread on this forum and having used it for a while is an excellent way of storing and drying wood.
  13. Hi Andrew, Thanks for your reply. I have seen your website and the product looks good, I was after some real world feedback before I make up my mind but it seems it's a little thin on the ground. I guess I should ask the same question on a Canadian forum and will probably get the answer I am after. Anyway, subject to feedback I am still after one so will get in touch. Regards, Nick
  14. Still think I could do better in my Defender
  15. Thanks Robert, that's a beast. Unfortunately minimum digger size is 9T if I am reading that correctly.

  17. Hi All, I have a JCB 8025 and am looking to get a Brush Cutter for it, I have seen some companies offering them in the US or Australia but can't find anything for the UK (nothing in digbits etc) anyone know where I could pick one up in the UK and has anyone got experience of using one on a mini digger? Thanks
  18. Hi, Does anyone have any experience of using a Wallenstein Splitter? and if so what are/were your experiences of it? I am in the market for a road towable splitter, there appears quite a large difference between the costs of the available kit out there so am trying to work out whats good value, what's expensive and what is tat. I would rather save a little longer and buy the best rather than buy twice but also don't wish to pay over the odds. Wallenstein seem to have a good pedigree but are more expensive than others I have seen (about £700 more) but then again the spec seems to be higher and they use good engines opposed to Chinese copies etc. So, if you can shares some experiences on Wallenstein or give advice on other comparable products then I would be grateful. Thanks. PS. I have done a search but can only find info on this site for Wallenstein chippers.
  19. No problem with any of the above as it's all true. I took my fondness for speed onto the track and had a long succesfull career in crashing motorbikes. Some said it would slow me down on the road, it did in that I stopped for a long time riding bikes (on the road), for me personally the change was not the bans it was buying a V8 Range Rover and not being able to pay for the fuel if I did put my foot even remotely near the floor Changing tact slightly... I can honestly say (not proudly, but honestly) that each and everytime I get in the car I speed, even if it's just 33 in a 30, or 80 in a 70. I think it's one of life things that will never be stopped unless you limit cars and bikes. As a proof point of how inherrant speeding is in society, I once broke down in the Landy (petrol into Diesel doesn't go, I was over tired when I did it) anyway I spluttered to a stop next to a camera with a flashing 30 sign underneath it. Whilst waiting for the pickup truck and in my boredom I started counting the cars that went through and set it off (I know I need to get out more) in short out of nearly 30 or 40 cars the only one that didn't set it off had pulled out a couple of roads just before the sign and probably hadn't got up to speed yet. So if everyone speeds, apart from the very odd one or two (with a 10 car tail back behind them no doubt) why not teach people better driving skills and safety from the start or stick in proper speed cameras with variable speed. The reason IMO, the current camera's = Cash.
  20. OK so technically speaking it's wrong (and I know you is not like disrespecting me, init) but in reality it is correct. What I mean is that you can travel everywhere at 140MPH and still be a good driver and totally in control. But put a bad driver in a car with poor skills and they will cause that crash whatever speed they are going, the speed just means they hit something quicker and it's more likely to have serious consequences. you can slow everyone down but you can't make up for lack of coordination or spacial (sp?) awareness.
  21. That's because the proceeds go into the central pot but the installation, maintenance and ongoing contract is paid for by the county council. Swindon is a prime example of this as they switched all of theirs off due to the high costs. Their camera's actually raised X gazillion but the county council had something like a 500K cost each year (feel free to input the correct figures) which they couldn't sustain. The bonus for the county council is that they have safe speeding driver free roads, the reality is that the roads are little safer and people speed up to the cameras, slow down then speed off again when they are past them. As a sometime reformed speeding driver (two bans) I think they are good to slow down non locals who might not know the roads and hence the accident spots but local people do as I have said above, slow down before the camera then speed up again so they are no detterent. If the government were serious about speed and not about revenue then we would have average speed cameras the length and breadth of the UK. To add, speeding doesn't kill, bad driving certainely does. I would rather see the speed limit go up and all women banned from the road, and old people while we are at it. Whilst they might not be involved in many accidents statistically the amount they cause must be off the scale.
  22. Lol, will give it a go. Thanks.
  23. I love the pine candle. What's the process to get it to burn like that?
  24. Thanks, I didn't even know that was there and it's only 30 miles away so I could make a day of it with the kids. Cheers Thanks to Bob also but i need one before that timeline. Cheers
  25. Thanks, I knew that as it's in my nice little booklet that came with the last Axe I bought
