  1. Tenuous at best, but I'm glad you find your jokes funny, I guess someone has to!
  2. Thanks Gareth I will look their products up. John I don't think I dare ask how on earth a bridge could be involved!
  3. That's an interesting turn for a thread about bridges to take!
  4. Uh, family friendly?!
  5. I see, not keen to share what the complaint was, must have been bad!
  6. Yeah think I've got some stuff for getting algae off tennis courts, might help, thanks.
  7. Ha now I'm intrigued what the complaint was about! Did you mistake a man for a woman?
  8. You expected a butt kicking for that? Nah you'll have to try harder! A second opinion- are you sure you are qualified to give one?
  9. Yes it will be a nice site visually, it's a shame that it is somewhere that it will be taken straight down afterwards though, as another site for events would be good- or even improvements to an existing venue.
  10. No, I just checked and I'm not a bloke.
  11. Thank you both. Yes it might be worth trying cleaning it before anything else.
  12. You lot are horrible to each other!
  13. Thank you, even more ideas to think through! Horses can usually find something to spook at if they are that way inclined. Their footfalls echo on the bridge anyway which seems to be enough for some so I doubt wire would make much difference- horses, who'd have them! Think I'm heading away from the idea of chicken wire though for several reasons. Gravel may well be good idea, is something I'm considering.
  14. Thanks. Yes it's substantial, but very slippy. Do you mean the 'chick' in the photo?
  15. Haven't had my tea yet but seem to have finished my drink... so I'll let you off!
  16. Ha ha, it's only half six! Yes it is great, I haven't even been here very long and it's so useful.
  17. Yes, very interested, if there's a day you need another pair of hands I'd love to.
  18. You're right it doesn't seem to drain well. I think the planks sit pretty flush though I don't think there are any gaps to clear?
  19. Thanks that answers question I just asked in previous post! I notice your website link, do you do any courses on working horses in woodland?
  20. Yes wire and horse shoes might not be a good combination, having seen one or two incidents with wire between hoof and shoe. I think they are wooden, unless there are steel rsj's out of sight under the bridge, I will go under and look. The bridge is designed to take loaded lorries so perhaps there is steel under there. The bridge is pretty flat, some water does seem to sit on it as it stays damp after rain for a fair while. With gravel/scalpings Would they not just kick off the bridge pretty quickly? Thanks for your help.
  21. Mmm hadn't thought of that, thanks. I wonder whether buildup of slimy stuff might also be an issue with this surface like with the wood.
  22. Are your bridges used by horses as well- I was concerned about how long it would last under horse shoes? Thanks.
  23. This is the bridge, afraid it's not a very useful pic but gives some idea what it's like.
  24. Thanks for taking the time to reply, very useful info. Yes it is a very real risk as you say. One of my horses is unshod and finds the surface particularly bad, I now get off the horse to cross and she still slips. Another is shod and has special 'road nails' of tungsten carbide in the shoes, he rarely slips as a result. As it's a ROW it really needs to be safe for all, not just those equipped with spikes!
