  1. Hi there, I saw this one on Gumtree, TCT blade is a must IMO. Saw Bench for Firewood in Co. Armagh, County Armagh | Plant & Tractor Equipment for Sale | Gumtree.com
  2. Hi all, I use a Palax Combi MII, circular saw with 6t apv splitter option fitted. I normally load 5ft forklift and use straight from the forklift, no log deck required. I can process 4M3 per hour no problem by myself, sometimes into 1m3 crates or tractor tipping trailer. It really does depend on the timber. 3" TO 6" in 10ft lengths is the best, easy to handle splits into a good size log. As others have said don't get hung up on weight, volume is the measure. Don't look at the log pile, Ipod on, head down, cut 'til you run out of diesel or daylight!
  3. Hi there, well a VW advert's not bad, but I have had my logs feature in not one but TWO Hollywood productions!! I had a can one day from someone saying the were making a film locally with universal studios and they needed firewood for a scene, i though it was a wind up and told him I hadn't time to deliver if he wanted to collect come on over. Within the hour two burly blokes and a transit arrived! They were well pleased with the wood and came back for more and even recommended me to another production company who got some for a HBO mini series! Beat that! by the way I love VW vans!
  4. Caledonian Forestry Services are the Palax Dealer nearest to you. I have used the Palax 55 and it is a very handy machine. Honda petrol engine model is ok, PTO version is better(and cheaper) for obvious reasons. I have had a Honda / PTO Palax Combi MII in the past that was even better. As for build quality, the gentleman who thought th Hakki Pilke was better quality must have been looking at a different machine to the one I used, I'm not knocking anyone else's machine but in my opinion Palax are a far superior quality machine for similar money. I know which one I'd buy
  5. Hi Bob, Palax have the new KS50 processor, i've seen it go at APF and in my opinion it knocks the socks off the binderberger and is way cheaper too... try Oakleaf Forestry Firewood and Forestry Equipment palax dealer in N.Ireland
  6. I get clowns on all the time telling me they can get firewood for £25 and £30 per tonne. I ask them is it supplied with a weight docket? who says it's a tonne? do you think that halford's 3 x 5 trailer being pulled by '98 fiesta is actually towing a tonne? I may come across a bit harsh or cheeky to these guys sometimes but who need that kind of customer anyway.
  7. I had a look at one, they produce very rough firewood, most of it is smashed to bits! it's not bad if you're only going to burn it yourself but I think it would impossible to bag and sell. Also look very dangerous! Spend your money on a proper Firewood processor
  8. Hi there pm me your phone number I'll get you sorted.
  9. KS35 everytime! I have a Palax Combi MII which I prefered to the KS, just because I wanted the circular saw blade for less maintenance. I've used most types and makes of processor and can recommend the Palax.
  10. Quad trailers and cranes available from Welcome to CALEDONIAN FORESTRY SERVICES LTD great piece of kit for the right job, I know guys who use them for thinning, planting and fencing jobs, cost almost as much as a tractor trailer though, but as mentioned in a previous post, you don't always have access for a tractor/landrover and trailer
  11. Hi all, I have a Nestor Martin Stanford 33. It will stay burning night and day and is very efficient and easy to control. I rarely let it go out between october and march and only clean out the ash once a week. They're not cheap, but you only buy it once! I've also been told Charnwood are very good
  12. Hi Zak, Hi a handy local contact for net and poly bags available from http://www.lcpackaging.ie in Donegal. Firewood Processors(New and Used), trailers and log splitters available from Oakleaf Forestry Firewood and Forestry Equipment in Co. Armagh. It's not that hard to get started if you have the right stuff, don't get disheartened if it's slow to start and don't price too low just to get out there. If the wood is good stick to your price, It will sell!
  13. Hi Zak, where are you based? I should be able to sort you out with a few good, reliable suppliers.
  14. Hi Pete,

I was directed to you for advice on older greemmech Cm150.('96 I think)

I just got this machine and it's in not great shape, anvil and one blade missing, plus an exit hole where the blade and chipper parted company! is this common?

I need new blades and anvil, what distance from blade face to the anvil edge.

also a friend has offered to make me blades out of 10mm Hardox plate, would this be suitable?

    Thanks

  15. hi there, IMO Palax is miles better value than Hakki Pilke, similar money but way better quality. I've had both over the years and found the Palax to be better built, better output and easier to operate. dealers in Scotland ,Welcome to CALEDONIAN FORESTRY SERVICES LTD Bristol Affordable Tractors :: Tractors - Plant & Machinery Ireland Oakleaf Forestry Firewood and Forestry Equipment
