  1. bloody hell, glad i know that now.thnx for the heads up:thumbup1:
  2. bet he needed a knew chain after that!
  3. just to throw it out there. i use a gomataro.if you find this falls out far too easily like me then nick the handle off a zubat and swap over with the gomataro.fits nice and snug without any mods. only found out when i tried using a zubat and didnt like it prefering instead the gomataro type blade which i went back to.
  4. unfortunately the main problem with chasing the bonus is that accidents and damage are more likely to occur.even without a bonus scheme an underpriced job can lead to increased pressure to complete that job as quickly as possible, and inevitably shortcuts might be taken in that pursuit.
  5. sorry mate, nothing lasts long in this game! haix are good and comfy from the off.get about 9 months out of mine with full time use. elten fellsman were ok but a real bugger until worn in. hearing good things about meindl boots at the mo.
  6. i work for a large arb company.we are set a min day rate we must earn before a bonus is shared out.if we earn over our money for the week the money left over is split as follows.65% goes to the company,10% to the manager and the rest split between the lads with the first £25 going to the foreman!!complicated eh?
  7. sorry to hear about that:thumbdown:bet we ve all had an injury or two but just about managed to soldier on when needs must.its an arse when injury means time off becomes compulsory.i know a lad who used to work with me who managed to get in the way of a branch as he fed it through the chipper.his hand was caught between the branch and the hopper.went to the docs who said it was just bruised yet 2 weeks later(and still working with it best he could)felt it was getting worse.after an x-ray found out a small bone in his hand was fractured and was obvously now worse for it as hed been using it.after 4 ops hes been told he wont be able to supinate this hand meaning its now pretty useless.hes been forced to retire from treework altogether.hes just 24.
  8. never worn these boots myself but know two guys who luv em.they've both worn haix and prefer the meindl.
  9. whats the max towing weight of the mitsi l200?
  10. if youve only got a transit your probly best off doing a trailer test instead.allows you to tow a heavier trailer without the ball ache of doing your rigid then artic licence.if you intend to drive anything over 3.5t couped with a heavy trailer then probly worth doing the artic as it will be more cost effective in the long run although you do have to do the rigid first.both 1 week courses were around £1200 each when did mine.
  11. graphite powders good but if you use too much or too often ive found it can clogg.
  12. not a fan of stretch air trousers myself, stihl forestwear all the way.i think the stihls are a little cheaper too??
  13. what about throwbags? i use just the standard ones and never tried any others.
  14. nah wouldnt be without my cube.using the updated stein one.some nice touches made on the previous model should hopefully last a little longer than the last one.i know a few people whos perished quite quickly around the rod ends.
  15. im currently using the slick line sold by buxtons as my throwline coupled with two bog standard bags 12 oz and 8 oz. anyone got any thoughts on the best lines out there for max height and ease of use?
  16. im doing it at the moment as is a is one of the other lads. doing mine online at myerscough.bloody hard work keeping up with the studying etc as ive not done anything academic like this for a decade. finding the time is the hardest thing esp. with two young children. go for it though and good luck!
  17. 35k ? i wish.more like mid 20s although with bonus can boost it plus a work van. iv 14 years in the business and have a good rep as a climber. maybe i am on the right money, its just hard to judge ie dont want to be greedy but want the right money while im in my "prime". probly what everyone wants i know. thanks for all the feedback.
  18. hi everyone/anyone?! i currently work as a foreman-climber with responsibility for day to day running of a gang of six arborists. anyone have an opnion on what the going rate monetary wise should be. especially interested to know if anyone else has a similar role:001_smile:
