  1. After looking at other photos of cylinders I think it’s just the squish band is 3mm wide and then drops off.
  2. One thing I am noticing is that the squish band isn’t flat. It’s consistent around the cylinder but is smaller beside the cylinder wall and then gets wider, 0.36 to 0.6. Is the squish band normally 3mm wide and then drop off?
  3. It makes it easier to take the cylinder on and off a few times to confirm measurements.
  4. Thank you, Spud. Yes I’ve done that now but hadn’t on the first measurement!
  5. Hello all I’ve got the cylinder off my 390xp and I thought I’d have a go at measuring the squish. I’ve taken the rings off, bolted the cylinder back down, then poked some solder through the plug hole and rocked the flywheel until it’s turned all the way round. I’ve tried this in a few different places and the smallest measurement I can find is 0.33mm without a gasket. I’ve measured the gasket and it’s 0.50mm. What would be the ideal squish for this saw? I’d rather have some gasket paper so I’ve ordered some flexoid paper in 0.15 & 0.25mm. Thanks for any help. Ger
  6. I also wear these on the ground, totally waterproof with a nice warm lining https://www.safetygloves.co.uk/297_10_single.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-be8kNeo3wIVxeF3Ch3njA5EEAQYASABEgKHCPD_BwE
  7. Cheers bud. Yes it was a real mess behind the jet!
  8. I wear these when it’s real cold/cold and wet. I pay around £15 which may seem expensive, but I’ve not had cold hand since. Tuck the long cuff up your sleeve and it’s lush! If you need extra grip you can always put a pair of builders gloves on over them.
  9. Thanks bill. Yes, I almost did a fist pump, haha!
  10. Sorted now bud! I couldn’t get in contact with my friend with other saw so I decided to drill it out and have a look. It was full of crud in there, bitty and grey slimy sort of stuff. Gave it a real good blasting with carb cleaner, put it back together and it’s back to normal [emoji106] Thanks for all your advice bud [emoji106]
  11. I found blue tongue awful, the cover isn’t stiff enough so rucks up instead of flowing nicely.
  12. That sounds exciting! I’m no expert but I do do most things myself. I know a chap with one so may ask if I can chuck his on. If not, I’ll have a go and see what happens, I’d have to remove the limiter if I gave it a mild porting anyway. Fingers crossed
  13. Thanks spud. Yeah I may as well have a dabble, I think it may be the check valve that you talked about that’s the problem? I will pop the exhaust off first and double check the condition of the piston but it does have good comp, holds its own weight easily. The valve is behind the h jet yeah?
  14. How do you get the limiters off on the carb Spud? I may as well have a go before I get a new one!
  15. I’ve had a quick go and it’s just the same. Start it and it ticks over fine, give it a few revs and it then let it tick over for a couple of seconds and it picks up fine. Give it a few revs and then let it tick over for ten seconds and then rev it and its real fluffy and groggy, after a few seconds of reving it clears up again?
  16. Yeah some folk were saying it was dealers just replacing as an easy fix, and on bloke said he runs aspen so that throws the ethanol reason out the window! I’ll report back tomorrow after I’ve had go [emoji106]
  17. I was thinking the same but hopefully it’ll be ok. I couldn’t work out how to take the jets out so if this doesn’t help then I think I’ll get a new carb. When I googled 150 carb problems there were post saying dealers had replaced loads, they put it down to ethanol eating them away!
  18. I’ve put a new plug in it today and tried adjusting the carb but to no avail. Just took a carb off to see if I could find that valve and whilst taking it to bits I found the little gauze covered in a brown mush! I’ve cleaned that and the rest of the carb and will have a start up tomorrow afternoon to see if it’s helped!
  19. I saw this stuff and thought it’d be handy having the different thicknesses https://www.amazon.co.uk/Flexoid-Gasket-Paper-Set-Sheets/dp/B00A1B6U6G
  20. Only just seen this bud. I think I may have used the wrong term. When you take the cylinder off and look at the casings, it’s a circle with two “Ears”, the gasket was sticking out a bit over one of the ears. Did you raise the comp on the one you did?
  21. Cool, I’ll have a go a that tomorrow and see how it responds. I did the exhaust mod a few years ago and it’s been fine. Then about a year ago it started playing up near when Honey’s had a Black Friday deal on the 2511t, so I got one of those and didn’t use the 150 for ages. Then I thought it was a waste of a saw so got a carb kit and that brings us to here. So, the carb settings were good up until the problem. Strange isn’t it!?
  22. Thanks for all that bud. The saw seems to have as much compression as always, but I will check the piston when I take the exhaust off. The plug is a tan colour. It ticks over fine but when it has been for a little while it’s really groggy when you first start to rev it again and a bit smokey, and then clears up but still doesn’t rev out clean - as if it’s real rich. I will check the choke has full movement. I’m thinking it may be the valve from what you explain. I’ll take the carb off and see if I can locate it and give it a clean. I will also try a new plug. I’m considering taking it all apart and giving the ports a very mild tweek, have you any advice for that? Thanks for the time you’ve taken to explain things [emoji106]
  23. No always good oil bud. The exhaust is ported so I can see that it’s clear. I’ll take it off though and check it’s not blocked cylinder side. I’ll also have a gander for the check valve. Is there a chance the high jet could be broken?
  24. Hiya spud, I took the air filter off and nothing changed. Where is the check valve?
  25. Also, I put a new car kit in to no avail.
