  2. Right monkey outside, thats just outrageous, I'm not having you outdo me, its just wrong! QUALITY, I am well impressed, did you phone a friend for that one david!PMSL:thumbup1:
  3. Hospital! bit of super glue and good to go.
  4. no need to freeze, a day or two and coagulation sorts out the messy bit! Then its a plastic sheet, remove the limbs et and place in pile flod sheet and transport to local pig farm.... you do know what nemesis means dont ya?
  5. cool! something different for us U.k folk would love to go to the amazon for a fungal foray!
  6. lets meet up half way, tis easy for both of us then, I think hatfields about half way?

I will give you my number when I can get it off my new phone!

  7. Ive been thinking about this a lot latley too, probably cos Im now on the downward slope toward fourty! I used to cycle, Muay Thai, Gym the works and I was NEVER tired, keeping fit fuels itself as long as you maintain the right diet with it. I would definatley get back into cycling for the cardio benifits and the leg strength this adds, maintaining good lung capacity and circulation is the priority for us be we groundsmen or climbers. I am going to take up yoge at some point for flexability as I am begining to tighten, I could pull of the moves Monkey d posted around two years ago but doubt i could now! Ive always been unbearably fit, and never been able to sit still for more than 10 mins at a time, but im 38 this summer and Im starting to feel its all slipping away!
  8. I find it fascinating how these latent propugules sit dormant in the wood until the wood dies and then they activate and fruit. natures awsome
  9. I would only wish to have begun my education ten years ago so that I would be ready for the research roles I now seek, but have to do ten years training to do them! I want out of the climbing within three years, 40 then, and I stated at 17 this would be my cut off, I still enjoy it but I dont want to gradualy lose it, im quitting while I am at my peak.
  10. for those that dont know I.C.E (in case of emergency is the number or rather name you should have allocated in your phone directory for your next of kin!
  11. I would change the whole subject matter if you thought it was worth a total re think?

maybe M/S and R/A as a controversial subject?

  12. We have three phones all on different networks, me on virgin, john on o2 and gordon on orange, we also have a tick box for signal strength on out R/A I was not aware of the 112 thing and that is a usefull detail. I am very quickly biulding a picture for a very good and comprehensive M/S And R/A combination with all your inputs. Once again the collaboration of the arb talkers is priceless.
  13. Yeah I get that! the lads hate when were on the way home and I slam on the brakes for a bracket!
  14. Great stuff guys, all helpfull and big up David for the most excelant and tidy (efficient) setting up of all ropes, sundries etc. I agree fully with the view that self reliance/rescue is the truth of it all, but we all know it isnt always going to be the case, and it is then, that this will matter and maybe the difference to you going home to your wife and children...... or not. David, a most exclelant point on having a tick box for the second line on the R/A Did anyone read the HSE rigging research paper and has anyone started designating an RP and a CP within the team? do any of you use the rigging R/A form that was suggested in the research note? and finaly, whoever suggested the phone with reception and credit checked van keys and rescue/first aid kit in one designated area, exclelant point. I reckon I have some good pointers to establish a comprehensive view of the situation, thanks guys, but keep posting, its all good.
  15. Do any of you practice your ariel rescue technique, and if you do how often? How many of you have a rescue specific kit as suggested/recommended that nothing is ever borrowed from? How many of you are confidant that if the worst happened the designated rescue personel are confidant and capable enough to really get you down in a realistic time frime? Have any of you trained beyond the standard first aider? Have you ever installed a rescue specific climbing line at the start of a job? I have so many questions! I am doing a piece for collage and need a good controversial and relevant subject and think this might be a good place to look for one as it is something I have given a lot of thought to over the last few years. Your thoughts and views appreciated:biggrin: PM if off the record desired, mums the word if need be, I just need to know. Thanks all
  16. LiveLeak.com - Catapulted from a Tree This guys a right tonka
  17. do a search on victorian mycological illustrations and it will most likely pop something up! going to go see myself now ive suggested it!
  18. Ive seen so much Xlaria hypoxylon I am bored of it! lol nice shot though!
  19. I have no idea where it came from, just a snatch from thousands of wasted hours trawling the WWW for information! I suspect it is an old victorian book ilustration, its cool! I love the old charcoal and lead ilustrations the victorians did, awsome artists.
  20. your pooch looks a bit grey round the muzzle like my old fella! dogs are great, and a very good excuse for a little wood walking. Seriously consider the WAB forum for a definative ident on this, thats where i go when Im in doubt, but dont tell anyone on here! lol
