  1. You do need a second body to pull the liner through from the other end. Some bricky skills are sometimes necessary too, as the job can entail removing/replacing bits of the stack to steer the liner around problems.
  2. Wow, I never would have guessed that. I just automatically thought that you would get more for the post.
  3. Ah, sorry, got my thick hat on tonight LOL Must be the Bulmers
  4. If it's in pole form, better selling it for fence posts surely?
  5. You could be right, I was just the groundie
  6. LOL See the firewood forum as to why I am not at the moment
  7. HETAS course is what you mean, I think. Have done a little of this recently and it is not as simple as you think. When a 40m roll of liner can cost £1500, you only need to wreck one length trying to get it down the chimney to make a nasty dent in your profits. To do the job properly, you need to match liner to appliance, not chimney, and then backfill with Vermiculite to insulate the liner to make sure that all the tars and other nasties stay gaseous on the way out. Of course, this means you need to plate off the base of the chimney/top of the chamber. Look at a firm called Designafireplace in Southend to get an idea of what's involved.
  8. Cheers Mick. If you see Mark, tell him I asked if he is enjoying his coffee more these days. He should know what you mean
  9. Hi all, another newbie here, this time near sunny Sarfend in Essex lol. Just getting into the business after 20 years in casinos, done CS30, yet to pass 31 as I need experience at felling (why don't you get sent away to practice for 6 months before letting you take the assessment anymore?) and also currently studying for a Law degree to get me through old(er) age. Been chopping logs since I was a kid, and used to do much landscape work on my days off so fancied it for a full-time job and here I am. Would love to hear from people in my neck of the woods, especially if they are looking for an extra pair of hands. Finally, hi to Steve Woodley or Mark Kneller if they are on here. Cheers!
