  11. ive worked for the big firms and 1 man outfits. both have pros and cons. Find a job first and you can always go for jobs elsewhere on trail days. The big firms you can get more tickets, qualifications and ive found more money. Though you can be just a number, also new people usually get the crappy work and theres alot of pressure to get the bonus, which is not always good.
  12. I worked with a chap on a council contract who retired last week at 61. He is one of the fastest blokes ive worked with. He's moving down to devon and doing a few days freelance a week. He puts it down to cod liver oil, eating healthy and stretching after work.
  13. I'm about to quote for a large Lime to dismantle with lowering. The tree is covered in Ivy. I explained to the lady it would be best to cut the Ivy and come back in 3 months. She seemed ok about that. She also wants a small fig and a small cherry pruning. I reckon that once the ivy is dead it should take 1/2 a day to take off and a couple of hours extra for thr fig and cherry. Would you charge for a whole days work for the above work? Or take a hit on the big lime to secure the job.
  14. £4995 cash
  15. i know its expensive, but not as expensive as 10 large koi carp
  16. ive got a job right next to a large pond with carp in it. I usually cover the smaller ones. Thinking about changing from sync to bio for this job. Will bio oil cause any harm or effect? this maybe be a stupid question, but just want to be sure.

  20. ive only had it 3 months from new!
  21. cheers ears
  22. the chipper had been work fine most of the day. So it warm. So restarted the engine and if would go for 15 seconds or so. Then it would just give up. Tried a few more times then it started to back fire. Though it was flooded maybe left if for an hour or so. Still the same problem. Checked air filter and fuel filter. still no difference, still cutting out after 15seconds. any suggestions?
  23. I used mr site, I did it myself. Its just like using powerpoint. Its not the most professional looking, but it brings in work. I used a page i created called "where we cover" then areas and postcodes the people put in "tree surgeon se18" and bobs your uncle. £55 quid for the year, second day online brang in a 3.5k job. as part of the package they set you up with google. get the proffessional package though. 25. I had a job cancel today. Though got a call a bit later in the afternoon to get a cat out of a tree. Charged the same as day rate when I was freelance. Big sweet chestnut. Job done in 30 mins. It makes me wonder if this is the new career for me!
