  1. Hi Dean, I have just been accepted onto on of the one's that the City of London are offering - but at Epping Forest not at David's site. As David mentions in his post they have received funding from the National Lottery and as a result are taking on three apprentices at Epping for next five years as part of the 'branching out project' It involves spending four days at work and one day at Capel as far as I am aware and you work towards the NVQ Level 2. You also get CS30, CS31, PA6 if I remember rightly but more importantly the experience of working in a great location that you wouldn't normally get.
  2. Look really good, 100 times better than the normal ones you get from Argos or the garden centres!
  3. Hi David, Sounds good, looking forward to it.
  4. Thanks for replies/advice guys really looking forward to it now, will try and get some pics and post up here Thanks
  5. Thanks mate, not sure to be honest. I think there were three positions in all at Epping and they are taking three people each year for the next few years due to the funding they have got from the National Lottery and the scheme they are running. Take a look at their site, if you google City of London and Open Spaces it comes up on there and gives a bit more detail about the scheme. I saw the job on Arbjobs and submitted my application from there but I think they also post roles as and when they become avaliable on the city of london website as well... Parks and open spaces - information and advice
  6. Cheers Mick, yeah looking forward to it now, glad to get out the office as well! If you need any help in the future give me a bell:001_smile:
  7. Really pleased, just been offered a position as an apprentice arborist at epping forest on a years contract. Been trying to get into Arb for a a while but it is the same old situation you can't get the job without the experience and vice versa! Looks like this is an great opportunity for me to get some experience with a good employer and at a great location:thumbup: .
  8. Hi David, thanks for the info on the Apprentice Arb position and the City of London that you gave me previously. Pleased to say I have been offered one of the positions in Epping and really looking forward to getting started!

    Many thanks

    James

  9. I was on thier site after seeing that Landy on ebay! I think some of the other guys on here have used a company called BL Searle, a landy on there looks smart:cool1: Commercial Vehicle Bodies | Commercial Vehicle Body Builders
  10. There's a guy on ebay selling on of their conversations: 1997 LAND ROVER 110 DEFENDER TDI GREEN TIPPER on eBay (end time 01-Sep-09 19:00:00 BST)
  11. cheers for that, much appreciated:thumbup:
  12. Who do you get the M300 from for £80.00 p/m - is a fixed contract?
  13. I'm not qualified or working in Arb at the moment, working in a different industry. Looking to do a course with Kingswood and Merrist Wood, done a few odd days helping some local guys to get a little experience but thats it at the moment. Might pop down to the show as it's only 15mins away for me!

  14. Hi Phill, I am in Meopham near Gravesend, yourself?

  15. Kind of in the same position as you, have a good job but holds no interest for me. Although it would be easy to remain as is, sometimes you have to make the leap into the unkown! As Robert.S said life is for living. Depending on where you live Kingswood Training in Kent come recommended by others and that's where I am going to be doing my training. Best of luck
  16. As a new member on here I agree with the comment it is a lifestyle thing. As somebody who is looking to get experience and get the tickets I understand I will earn a lot less than I do at the moment and appreciate you have to start off on lower wages but it can be offset with the better quality of life and better lifestyle. As somebody else said it's not all about the money

    Scuba anyone

Hi Bob, I dive done my divemaster etc. The Canaries (Lanzarote) are got for newly qualified divers and there's still lots to see, lots of ray's, nurse sharks etc but the euro exchange rate is bad. Egypt is obviously good and the euro exchange rate won't cripple you and suits divers of all levels!
  18. Cheers Mick, good days graft, let us know if anymore comes along!
  19. Hi Mick, I see you are from the kent area and I am doing my tickets soon, do you have any weekend work or sub work at all?

    Cheers

Cheers Monkeyd - I looked at Capel College on a previous post so will look into their site in more detail. I have also found a place nearby that does CS30, 31, 38 39 etc so could be a decent place to start?

Cheers Mozza - when you say Utility work is this normally subbed out to contractors as opposed to people directly employed by Netwrok Rail etc? I am paying for the training out of my pocket so hopefully that you'll show some commitment etc and I'll get the leg up!
