  4. We use one at work. Had it about 3 and half years from new. It gets used all day everyday and we have had know real probs with it at all. Makes very light work of big stuff. recommended although i do not know about parts cost and the mechanics of it etc. Will look tomorrow and see how many hours its done now.
  5. That was me taking the shot.....theres only 2 of us in the park, we generally do 1 tree on 1 tree off but being the man holding the park baton i get to conduct the orchestra from the ground!
  6. So.....Richmond Park was at its finest today...a fine flurry. Managed to do some work.....a monolith and a fell. Have decide that I must start documenting and sharing the jobs we do as we carry out some interesting work (monoliths, retrenchments of vet oaks, reductions, safety work etc etc) and I know it must seem that all i do is take photographs!!!!

  15. Good work david.....and a fine beech. I bet them there stems rock around in the wind! I like the idea of spreading the arisings around in that manner. Wouldnt last two minutes in the park however.....the deer would be tucking into them before you'd even left site.
  16. Cheers for the photo's david....very nice. Its good to see some of yours for a change......keep them coming!
  17. you're very welcome......glad you like the photo's
  18. As you can see from the last photo's these are all lapsed pollards. Some have collapsed whilst others as you have rightly pointed out have been reduced for safety reasons and also to prevent further collapse.
  19. sorry mozza!!!!! shall i stop posting??
  20. Thought I would share these and hopefully inspire. We are all probably aware of the ecological benefits of standing deadwood. These are micro eco systems in their own right developed over a great period of time. Their complete removal means their destruction. But secondly.....they actually look great too......living sculptures which the likes of landscape artist David Nash (check his wood sculptures out ) would be proud of. I'm fully aware that it is only possible to leave dead stands in a minority of instances but hopefully we can all think about the benefits of this practice more!
  21. My 4 year old has been pestering for a remote control helicopter for the best part of a year now. As christmas is coming up I am thinking of getting him one although I still have reservations about it as I know that they can be difficult to control at that age. Does anybody know of one that would be suitable for his age group? Doesnt have to be anything too flash or complicated......he would be over the moon just to have a helicopter to fly. Thanks in advance
