  2. That looks like the kiddy! Bet theres a nice price tag on it too.
  3. Cheers for that... have a good idea who's it is.
  4. Thanks guys... Theres 3 I can take off that list straight away.. Had no luck with JAS.
  5. Can anyone recommend any used forestry equipment dealers? I'm trying to get a list together to start phoning round to find a tractor, trailer, winch etc. Most importantly I'd like to hear from anyone who can recommend a good used equipment dealer with good after sales service, parts availability etc. Any thoughts most welcome. Matt
  6. I've got a bit of birch and some blackthorn, first time i've tried burning the blackthorn, seems not too bad though.
  7. Have had similar here too.. robbing sods.
  8. I know exactly what you mean... especially if they are a straight fell - crash bang, crap everywhere.
  9. Have a meeting coming up to discuss the job before submitting method statements so I will try and find some literature to pass on to them to let them know the official position and back me up a bit. Should all be fine.
  10. I like alder... preferably big ones! Either Elm, Alder or mature Scots Pine
  11. I hope it will be as easy as that... S.N.H are involved so I am sure we'll have a few more hoops to jump.
  12. Sorry! mis-read your thread.. You're right.. we won't need a shut down, both trees are approximatley 20m away from the line which is LV.
  13. I know.... I'm expectng a slap from Jamie!!! hehe
  14. Thats exactly the info I needed to hear.. We'll be able to get a shut down sorted and I can do the job myself which suits me fine.. Cheers Ed!
  15. Had my airstreams for 14 months now, in daily use and can't complain. Think I will replace them in the new year as they are starting to wear but they are a top class boot - I've never treated mine or polished them or done anything to look after them and they're still waterproof even walking round the woods, through burns, through wet grass etc.
  16. It's out of my hands now Jamie.. What a nightmare of a job.. typical beaurocracy gets in the way of a nice little job. We'll have to go for a shutdown, and the start date will be put back a while. Should all be getting sorted out though - will give you a shout if we need a hand.
  17. They're pretty damned ugly looking... Not my cup of tea spiders!!
  18. Martyn - not far from Alford mate.
  19. I could say a few different things, but I dont want to hang my washing out in public mate. PM me.. All I can say, is, you're not the only one.
  20. I'm going to save myself the hassle and just organise a shut down and do the job myself.. The two trees are about 30m each, and around 50cm at the base - I can have them both on thier backside before lunch time!!
  21. 58 kilos here.... Feel a bit weedy compared to the rest of you...! Eat like a horse, cant put weight on for love nor money.
  22. That happened to me a couple of month ago. Sectioning 5 scotties down near a powerline, had to leave two of them for the hydro who were supposed to be carrying out the work on the same day as us and then we were going to do the whole clear up operation and leave site tidy and complete. They turned up alright... 10 days late.
  23. I see you have experienced the SSE boys before then!! haha
  24. Could well be. The upshot would then be that I wouldn't have to pay out for the works as I believe they do it for free so that could be handy, but I was wanting to keep all the work in-house and hassle free. A nice job selective felling is turning in to a beurocratic nightmare.
  25. Mainly because I haven't called them yet! Looks like I might have to though.
