  1. I can’t believe how big it is and still the same design with the wee step at the front for standing on ?. What a piece of kit!!!
  2. I’ve never asked for men’s chainsaw trousers, I ask for chainsaw trousers and they ask what size. i do not reply, Man! I’m 32/34. Unless my bulge is so small I’ve been buying woman’s trousers for 25 years!?
  3. 11 years have passed since I started this thread. All my stresses before were from work, I even did an article on it for Forestery Magazine. Arbtalk really helped me through my hard times and I feel this thread was beneficial to other members too. I separated from my wife of 19 years on February after a few rocky years, no tree climbing skills or machinery purchases could of prepared me for the mental stress over these last 6 months. It’s been a clean break, no aggravation from my X wife and kids are happy going between us within walking distance. Covid hasn’t even been on my radar as I’ve kept myself to myself and live in a small village. Everyone is fighting their own battles and I’m lucky enough to have family and friends close by that I’m finally letting into my life again. Not really sure why I feel the need to type this, certainly not for sympathy, I’d say more for anyone else on here who is having a tough time. Chin up and keep moving forward! This site has changed and evolved so much and I’m not on as much but it still is my Go To every day, without fail! Cheers.
  4. Had a border for 14.5 years, out to sleep at Christmas! She ran with the pointers every day and great with the kids! Amazing dogs!! Kumba! smooth coat Fox Terrier is an amazing breed too. KJ!
  5. I have full length roller drawers on the bottom, checker floor and then high canopy with air vent and dog guard to split. You need the extra height for the dogs plus I can stand under and shelter. I can hide it out too. Front sliding small window can be opened for fresh air. Just chuck a big bed in and dog will soon settle and feel secure
  6. Very sad news, lovely guy. Very knowledgable and never a critic! had the pleasure of meeting him once. RIP Mate!!
  7. Ifor williams and carries 3500kg. gtw is 6000kg i can carry around 500kg in the back, I’m not that precise as I know 3 buckets don’t weigh that, I focus on the trailer! Obviously this is the internet and rather than believe someone who has done this successfully and legally for 7 years it’s easier to just ask questions hoping to point out a mistake! i also ran unimogs full of red diesel on Ag for 20 years!! go wild with that !!?
  8. My machine weighs 2660kg counter weight 150kg grab 120kg trailer 560kg 3490kg Buckets in the pick up.
  9. My CAT is zero tail swing, it’s what I’ve used for 7 years, wouldn’t have it any other way.i spend more time in narrow places having to turn than I do lifting heavy stuff, plus I drag heavy stuff. It’s much smoother I find on your toes than having a normal machine juddering, I had a brand new machine out 2 years ago on demo and I parked it up after 1.5 hrs as my back was killing me. Each to their own, if you can make it work, crack on.
  10. Great to see everyone working easier with their machines! Mines now 7 years old in a few months. time for an upgrade.
  11. You’ve still got it mate! All pieced out from the tree and immaculate cuts!
  12. You sell it at the price the market allows. If there was a storm tomorrow and lock down lifted! its a hot cake! currently 99% of UK chippers haven’t moved in 3 months. The true value just now would be Auction price imo. If you just want it gone then do that, and move on. If you want best possible price. Wait it out and sell it for as much as you can. That’s the realistic view imo. hours, age and condition obviously play a big part too.
  13. I’ve had DCK and CCK regs on mogs. Cracking big Mog, well done!
  14. That’s not terrible Matty, that’s being human and you will have a very long list of happy customers who I bet have become friends.
  15. I tried humour at the start but that got lost in everyone’s 1 memory of a pita climber that then is the blueprint to all their future opinions on the matter.? 1 trial learning instinctively helps us survive but in the modern world it can be a road block in personal evolution! Is that better??
  16. You would think by the responses there are only 2 ways climbers should and shouldn’t work and only 1 type of company you need to keep happy. Learn your skill and adapt to every possible job and what works best on the day be it crash bang demolition at the request of the boss or standard carefully steady pace. Good luck
  17. I’ve said it before, David Beckham doesn’t hang about after 90 minutes to sweep the stands and put the flags away ? climbers are climbers, if the moaning groundies don’t like it, grab the spikes and monkey monkey!
  18. I always wanted to be self employed so I didn’t have to work for someone else, whether I made money or not was never a priority really. I think that’s why I’ve kept soldiering on. If you just want money then you will need to sacrifice a lot of other stuff. There’s no turning up and sharpening your saws on site, they need to be sharp, fuel needs to be in, cans need to be filled, vehicle needs to be reliable and basically you loose the umbilical chord that’s an employer. It’s a hard enough game working for a good company with a great boss let alone trying it yourself. Would I do it again if I could turn the clock back 22 years? Not a chance, I would never of got into tree work and contracting. I’d of kept my easy job cutting grass and living on site and playing firewood tree cutter in the winter months in a big shed beside the kettle.
  19. I’m still going to have to try and earn a living, whether that’s self employed or try and find some kind of work I don’t know yet. Time with the kids, walking the dogs and generally keep out the way of people.
  20. Make sure you ratchet strap onto the chassis and not just the tipping part.
  21. Gray I’m going to take the dampener off mine, it’s doing nothing except making it long like yours! For all the size of stuff it can do there’s no shock load, £800 not needing spent imo.
