  1. I love the TM for its manoeuvrability / gear placement but can‘t, recommend it for utility work. the problem (quite a big one) is its life span, 3 months for everyday use according to manufacturing rec. not very long for a £240+ harness, I’ve had my one for about 4, and it’s still in pretty good nick, but I’ve had to put some tape on the webbing, near the leg buckle to protect it from conifer and thorn, as that part sticks out and takes a serious hammering . On the plus side it has made me a more cautious cutter, in the old weaver days I ’d dive strait inn
  2. Oops sorry about that, my first post as well. anyway quite like the new title, the hitch climber combo wouldn’t look out of place on this guys utility belt any chance of changing it agian?
  3. Petzl make a symetrical biner called the "ok". Its plenty good enough and comes in all black ninja style!! Did anyone see James Bond "for your eyes only" on sunday? He climbed this rock face and used non locking symetrical Karabiners!! And boot laces for prussik loops! I thought they only did a screwgate in black, wouldn’t like that as my main point of attachment, mind you if Jimbo uses non locking ones, I don’t know what I’m worried about:001_tongue:
  4. None at all, I’ve just got to get out more
  5. Not just any carb, it’s a fully Tree Motion matching oval carb from dmm, none of your sequoia ,Petzel OK crap now I can look really cool whilst I’m feeding the chipper:001_cool:
  6. Have You tried Elite? They were advertising in the paper a couple of weeks ago, or BTS But you’ll need to get a driving licence sharp! Not much use without one around here.
  7. Had the same thing happen to me, in a conifer, the oter day with my TM, ouch, wish they put padding in the arse of trousers as well.
  8. adding to this thread, I’ve have a Salamander (same as Gecko but different colours, and equally as pants:thumbdown:) for three years and eventually managed to get rid today, was wondering which is the best rope for a Loc Jack Sport and, or ocean polyester?
  9. an excellent climber has Long arms, long fingers, a thumb like big toe and a tail. best of all, you can pay them peanuts,
  10. When the work your doing actually benefits the tree, that’s why I’m a "utility arborist"
  11. Hello Steve

Two questions, have a local event I would like to advertise ,would it be possible to have a link/ start a thread on your site, so that I can post some old pictures of last years?

Plus ,how do I change my username? Don’t really like the drug reference it implies, even though they are my initials,

    Thanks

    Ps great website

probably learen’t more helpful stuff by trawling though the old posts than a year on the job

    Ascenders

I use a kong and Petzel foot ascenders, backed up with a lock jack, seems to work pretty well Bit of an expensive solution, I know, but got the whole lot for under a ton:001_tt1:
