  1. Nasty Dean. Good honest post though. Try not to get MRSA! Have you noticed that anyone who has a chainsaw accident is automatically a 'tree surgeon' in the eyes of the media? You never read ' fat clueless amateur severs arm after fall from ladder with B&Q chainsaw during misguided attempt to save £200' do you?
  2. You couldn't post it on here could you....
  3. Too true. If the customer is a bullsh***er who says he has a quote for £50 - let him get on with it.
  4. Semi chisel Bro. Keep those rakers down. Strong left arm. Always.
  5. Where are Mr. Ed, JJG and Buzz when you need them? Me and SWB will create a campsite. We'll call it 046 tastic.
  6. You've got me. It was like an arb version of Brokeback Mountain. And the rash is nothing to do with caterpillars.....
  7. Nowt wrong with my transit Tommer. That bass cannon does take up a lot of room in the chip bed mind....
  8. The visual impact is stunning. The physical impact of working on these combo's is less so....
  9. Anyone who grows a climber up a tree should be shot. I mean that with every fibre of my being.
  10. Doh! I thought it was a male leaf's response when it saw a fit female leaf! It's a sad day when you learn nothing....
  11. Spot on. Mick - you're wrong on this one. If we all try and 'price match' the cheapest quote we're f***ed. Clients lie all the time. Remember that. Looked at £3-4k job last week in Hythe. Reckons 'one of his mates can do it for a few ton but he ain't got insurance or tickets'. That job will never get done. Another time-wasting a***hole IMO.
  12. Blimey. Just rang the lab in York. Have you seen outbreak with Dustin Hoffman....
  13. I now have hideous rash all over my upper torso! Been Googling away, and BTM sounds possible. One of the little critters was over 3 inches long though! (most were about an inch). Wouldn't fancy being around when that bad boy emerges from his chrysalis! Bird eating moth? I'll try and ring those nos. now Dave.
  14. Damn Tommy - I am a bad businessman! It is the one you are on about Stevie. But I can't reach the chin up bar.
  15. This is a belter. A couple of months ago I posted a thread about trying to get hold of some dipping bars. Resigned to the fact I would have to pay £150 for some. Re recent tipping thread - clearance job today had a perfectly newish set in the middle of an overgrown garden. Lass gave them to me as a tip! Got home, found out it is actually some multi training station called a 'Hot Gym' (The Ultimate Home or Travel Gym) that sells for £169! Result!
  16. Took down a pear tree and reduced a small apple yesterday. They were both crawling (!) with hairy caterpillars (gypsy moth?). By the time we got home, groungie and me had to strip off to waist and hose ourselves down in the garden, we were so itchy. Replaced infested shirts with snow white Stihl promotional t-shirts. Went to price a clearance job and was accepted on the spot because of our smart and professional appearance! Thanks hairy hubert!
  17. After they have been going to a gym for a fortnight.
  18. ...there's a recession, you know?
  19. Workwise - too many to list! If someone gives me a wad of cash I have to have the Queen's head on the notes all facing the right way, with the largest notes at the back. It freaks me out if I know I have unsorted notes in my pocket! Or have I got OCD?
  20. Makes you think a bit that one Dave. Cracking observation.
  21. I think I will only do that to frail pensioners when I have a few beefy lads with me on the job.....
  22. Great job Stuart. Well done. Is your gaffer still alive though? Looks like he's about to cut himself out of the tree in the 3rd to last shot!
  23. Would I be out of order to stick a 10% 'service charge' (discretionary, of course) on top of the final bill like they do in restaurants?
  24. £200 here, added to total bill in cheque. Felling 3 Oaks for nice rich bloke. He must have been impressed by the way we totally flattened one of his shrubs! Don't spend it all at once Cerne!
