  1. Has been a very busy 2 weeks, in at the deep end but probably learn the ropes quicker that way (helps having a humphries lurking about in a forum to pester with questions 😊). There's been a bit of a change around which should hopefully mean I'll be able to input on potential improvements. Colleagues all seem sound too, missing the climbing tho...Thanks for asking, hope all good your end too! Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app

  5. God damn! What have I been doing for the last 2 years?? What are the main tell tales that say resinesum? Had a look in couple of books but couldn't find anything definitive on flesh/tubes colours that would deferentiate the 2?? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  6. Got a chance to re-visit yesterday so have got some better pics. Don't know how but I had it in my head that the FB was soft, in fact the upper side is hardened, the underside is softer though. I reckon it's dryadeus, what say thee?
  7. I've done as agent arb suggests, breathing through the nose only, admittedly a bit tricky when you're working up a sweat and wanna take deep breathes but it works for me. Don't remember it effecting my eyes just made me cough like buggery! Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  8. Cheeers for that, will def have another visit now! Ah yes...I have a feint memory of cappucino's,..need to do a proper recon of the area and find my the local caffeine outlets.
  9. pretty sure, bracket was very soft, amongst spore layer on the underside there were some enlarged holes which presumably are old gutation points? if i'm in that area again today will try and get some more shots, was bit of a drive by yesterday due to time Had a look at the fungi directory on here, do you reckon there could be description of the FB's on there? I know you've got oodles of time to be doing that sort of stuff
  10. Speaking of which, I found my first in my new job today, only the one pic as was in a rush! Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app

  14. Found these today on waterside willow, old C.pupureum? Berk and era? ? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  15. That's what I had thought too. What with the discussions going on with the kew case recently and the prosecution suggesting that signs should have been put up to warn public of potential risk may have prevented a fatality. Wonder how the court case would have gone tho if there were signs but a death still occurred? Would be interesting to go back in the height of summer to see if anyone was sitting under this tree.. 16. Any ideas on time yet? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  17. Was down in Devon the other week and found this in a very public location that during the summer has a high footfall from visiting tourists. it's nice to see a tree being left alone, wondered if anyone else has seen much of this type of thing in urban areas and also thoughts on this type of management? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  18. I fancy some of that, not far from me. Is it the main big car park at cassiobury park that you meet? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  19. Thanks for the well wishes, will miss the people and the place (& the cafes!). Over the 2 years I've been lucky to be involved in some unique jobs in a renowned site, an invaluable experience, and thanks to David I can now tell the difference between a toadstool and a bracket.... new job starting tomorrow and very much looking forward to the next chapter Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  20. according to a passing dog walker the tree came down last Thursday, it certainly all looked very fresh still with no signs (that I saw) of any of the timber being removed. Noticed quite a few failed beech pollards in the area, some looking fairly recent. tis a real shame
  21. Yeah, tree boat seems to be the one; shame the cost is so high but I guess you're paying for the specific design of what it does and you'd like to think it'll be made to last. Haven't looked about yet but any ideas if there's a British supplier? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  22. Some great recommendations there, couple of things that I've been wondering about tho, which of these systems is gonna work best with having to remain clipped in via my climbing system whilst sleeping? Assuming that you need to remain anchored to the tree? Sent from my SM-N9005 using Arbtalk mobile app
  23. been looking into this lately also, just wondered if you'd eventually got the hennesey and if so what you reckon?
  24. Had an email from jim smith today saying there have been problems with his email account which would probably account for sloth not hearing back. Here jims new email address for the I-tree project as it may not be too late to register interest, [email protected]
  25. Recently did the training day on i-Tree data collection process. They've now got around 270 volunteers, a good deal more than the requested 200 which i think is a positive sign. Just waiting now to hear what plots we're being allocated and what the teams will be. According to the organisers, there's quite a few t.o.'s as well as a few practising arbs heading up the teams of volunteers. Was wondering who else on here is offering up their time and expertise for this worthwhile project?
