  1. The trouble is that these super rich, the likes of Jeff the Amazon guy and Mark the Facebook guy, are pretty much untouchable. No government yet, except the French, has dared to stand up to them. All we can do is hope to get lucky, and wait for them to do the right thing and show some altruism. It's not a great position to be in given that there's so much at stake. There's some hope; Bill Gates seems to have turned to the right side, (cue someone jumping in to contradict me on this point!). Also Elon Musk appears to be championing green technology, but I'm very cynical about that, I don't trust him one little bit. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Obviously there are plenty of others that share your viewpoints. I'm not intentionally focusing on you pair. It's just very hard not to when you're by far the most prominent in terms of volume of posts and belligerence of tone within them. Other people espousing similar opinions do so in a much more reasonable manner. Besides you've said a few times now that you welcome "robust" debates. One could almost be mistaken for thinking that you actually enjoy them, your partner in crime in particular! If ever there is an argument ensuing on here Mr Trigger is normally to be found at the centre of it. Regardless of the subject.

I've never said Lockdown was the only weapon. It is the worst and as such the last resort. Sadly all the other, better, more nuanced weapons have now been wasted or fxcked up for us in this country.

Nah, I believe he probably has a very good grasp of the basics of virology. As good as the rest of us non-scientists at least. He's obviously an intelligent chap. It appears more like he just doesn't care, which is far worse IMO. Anyway, I find the inability to answer simple, direct questions utterly staggering!

Thanks for that. It illustrates a very sad state of affairs. In no way though does it answer any of my questions. I'll rephrase it in case you missed it. What's your solution to our current health crisis?

    Covid-19

I can't acknowledge that those stats are correct, not having access to the source data or skills to analyse it, but they don't look too far off current estimates. On the other hand given that the source was Nigel Farage they ought to be very stringently fact checked! However, the average ages of Covid victims is academic really, it's seriously missing the point. The problem is that those thousands of patients are taking a massive amount of resource to care for and treat. Regardless of age. If anything older patients need more resources. The consequence is that the lucky majority of the population that aren't adversely effected by Covid conversely suffer because they can't get the services that they require. How do you two in your wisdom suggest that we resolve this problem? I've done the courteous thing and answered the question asked of me. Perhaps one of you could return the favour now.

apologist /əˈpɒlədʒɪst/ noun a person who offers an argument in defence of something controversial. 'critics said he was an apologist for colonialism' >>>>>>>> I'm sure you could and probably will argue it the other way but to me Herd Immunity and minimal if any transmission limitation measures are actually the controversial stance in this pandemic. Just look at other countries around the world.

    Covid-19

Cancer is not contagious you know. Unlike Covid-19. I've never understood this logic behind the missed screenings, treatments and other collateral damaged caused by the cancellation of elective surgeries. Of course it is happening, no one is disputing that. Another tragic consequence of a pandemic. How is that attributable to Lockdown? From everything I hear, in the media, (main stream), and directly from health care professional friends of mine, the NHS is being overwhelmed with Covid-19 patients. This obviously means that they simply do not have the resources, (facilities or people), to carry out all the normal screenings, treatments and elective surgeries. To my mind the only way to resolve this is to reduce CV-19 numbers of patients being admitted. Hence Lockdowns, masks etc. Is my logic flawed here? How else do we reduce this massive drain on NHS resources other than by reducing transmission of the virus?

He talks about side effects here, and has done in previous reports. Vast majority of people have non, or only very minor, and most of them disappear after two days. Doesn't sound that scary to me.

You'll struggle to get a reasonable answer from either of that pair, The Chuckle Brothers, (without the chuckle!). You might get an answer, but it won't be to your questions and it'll more than likely be bellicose in nature.

We've been over this before I'm sure. There's nothing wrong with apologising for poor behaviour. It's just good manners and shows some humility. Something that's sadly missing on here all too often. Nothing to do with moral high ground. I had to look up the Hermes Birkin btw, probably the first and last time!

    Covid-19

There seems to be a change of stance going on here. I guess that's as close as we're ever going to get to seeing a drop of humility. Some of us have been highlighting the massive failings made by the English government for months now, only to be shouted down every time. Funny how things change .........

    Covid-19

Too little, too late and poorly planned. Again. Like every single measure that our politicians have attempted to implement during this crisis. This should have been done a year ago, after proper consultation with all parties involved, the majority of whom have a far greater knowledge of what's required. Accounts like you've heard on the wireless today smack of arrogance on the part of Boris and his little chums to me, it's more than just gross incompetence.
