  1. I put it down to Peter Gabriel. They got a lot less interesting after he left.
  2. I should have known that. Being a Genesis fan in my earlier years. They did have some very bizarre song and lyric ideas.
  3. Great knowledge, or research! Thanks. I had a vague idea the Giant HW wasn't a native.
  4. Must have been very young plants too. No way you'd miss them otherwise, they're great big buggers when fully grown! Anyone got any idea why they're called Hogweed anyway?
  5. Maybe the key is to make sure you do any strimming of suspicious vegetation only on overcast days..
  6. Well bloody hell. Who would have thought innocent veggies could be so nasty!
  7. Even carrot, coriander or celery? I didn't know that, I thought it was just Giant Hog Weed and a few others you had to be wary off. A fantastic group of plants nonetheless. If only from a culinary point of view.
  8. Each to their own. It's all about tiny birds and blue tits on here!
  9. I agree, they're certainly impressive birds. I've always harboured the idea that it would be cool to have a pet raven. Can't be many pets that are as long lived. They've also got some very unpleasant character traits though. The pair of jays that we had nesting in nextdoor's tree were terrorising the goldfish, and we're pretty sure a missing one was a victim of theirs. The Mrs is not happy!
  10. Use with caution though, it's really "spready", invasive. My parents had it all over their old garden. It's not too bad as far as invasive plants go though as it's very good for pollinating insects as well as a good fertiliser.
  11. Stinging nettles and comfrey both have really deep roots so they reckon that's where the micro nutrients come from.
  12. There's a similar idea but using comfrey. That's meant to smell atrocious.
  13. Lovely bit of old time knowledge there. We could do with lots more if that.
  14. [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  15. Bloody good news if it does actually turn out to be true. Long overdue. I was listening to an article about it and it was mentioned that the recent change at the White House had also been a fundamental enabling mechanism for it as well. Obviously.
  16. I've only had a brief look at this but it seems to be an overly convoluted process to opt-out. No doubt intentionally, bstards. Looks like you've got to go out of your way to do it by printing off a form and taking it in to your GP. I mean, paper, why do we need to use that these days?
  17. You can't be too careful with gender these days. But no, I've not had much experience with cocks!
  18. Who's a pretty boy then?! Or girl .....
  19. I thought cauliflowers were notoriously hard to grow so you must be doing something right.
  20. It seems to me that the problem here is a bent government whose top members, (operative word!), take every single opportunity to pursue their own nefarious ends. Not Covid per se. If it wasn't for a global pandemic then it would be other situations that they would be exploiting. Here's a couple of salient points from the cited article. ""Neither the British Medical Association nor the Royal College of GPs have endorsed this process. "" - the people that actually have to deal with the consequences of this virus. ""In fact, this approach is really now so endemic in Boris Johnson’s government that it must be regarded as the official playbook: withholding vital information from the public, transparency-free procurement, secretive contracts, a pathological aversion to any kind of scrutiny – then telling anyone that finds out about it that it’s in their best interests and that they absolutely refuse to apologise for that. After the past 14 months, it would take a very big database indeed to store all the things for which the government absolutely refuses to apologise."" - sounds horribly familiar doesn't it?
  21. That would be a slow news day for sure, it's an hourly occurance most days. What actually is big news though is that poor wee Andy feels really upset because a few more than just a couple of folk have called him out for what he is.
  22. I must be missing something. Where was all the acerbic content? I didn't see a single instance of acerbic content, let alone a post full of it. Unless you're talking about the use of the word Troll, but that's hardly unwarranted, considering the individual being discussed; our best friend Tiny Tigger. Have you ever actually read any of his posts? They make the one you're getting a bit pissy about seem like a glowing endorsement! The concepts of acknowledgment and acceptance of others differences are alien concepts to him. Just my personal interpretation.
  23. People have used many applicable words to describe him, non of them complimentary. A complete and utter lack of respect for anyone but himself is as good a summary as any. Obviously vengeful as well. He's either an under-rock dweller of the highest order or indeed a sociopath. Either way I don't believe he is welcome, liked or even respected by the vast majority of decent Arbtalk users.
  24. What a delicious irony. Serves the stupid hypocrite right if he can't now get enough EU staff for his pubs after he helped to get them all kicked out. Good beer and cider though! It's also a rare treat to actually be able to talk in a civilised manner to your friends, without having to shout above overly loud music in the background. I was listening to a report this morning about the troubles being faced by the hospitality sector, pubs in particular, due to the post-Brexit labour shortage. It is a real phenomenon.
