  3. There used to be a blackbird around the site where my Dad was building their last house, it was forever making an old fashioned telephone ringing noise. It used to drive him mad apparently.

    Jokes???

By way of a contrast to the above -
  5. Thats a good shout. Barrowing is a bit easier than digging.
  6. I'd ask your friend if she really wants it levelled. It doesn't need to be and level changes in a garden are generally good, they add interest planting opportunities. It'd be a lot of work to level that for not much gain in my opinion. If you've got to do it by hand then a stump grinder followed by a mattock, a long handled shovel and a big landscaping rake will be the way forward. Plus a generous lunchbox and flask/bottle of drink!
  7. An Egremont Russet. A "real" apple.
  8. Food security threatened by extreme flooding, farmers warn WWW.BBC.CO.UK Record-breaking rainfall leaves fields under water, threatening this year's harvest yield and quality.
  9. Bird mimicking police siren leaves inspector fooled at Bicester station WWW.BBC.CO.UK Simon Hills says the noise was "so accurate" it left officers believing their cars were faulty.

  11. Spring returned today. It wasn't especially sunny but it was pleasantly warm and most importantly, no rain. There's a 1 in 4 chance it'll make another appearance tomorrow I reckon.
  12. Yes, I'm getting slightly concerned.
  13. Blown it this evening. Wordle 1,026 X/6 ⬜⬜⬜⬜⬜ ⬜🟨⬜🟩⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩⬜ ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩 ⬜🟩🟩🟩🟩
  14. Leyland Cypress, Leylandii, I reckon. I can almost smell it from here!
  15. It's hard to be sure from those photos but some of it could be Lime, Chestnut or Sycamore maybe. No Conifers that I can see, of which the three on your unsafe list are types.

  17. Ah, right. I thought honour killing was more of a Sikh thing, but maybe it's a cultural practice. The guy has been caught now so the true motivation should come out in due course.
  18. Nah, it's a tidal swimming pool.
  19. What elephant? It's too invisible.
  20. Never heard of eating ferns, but it's definitely a thing, by lots of accounts. They certainly look appetising. I imagine they'd be lovely boiled and then fried in butter, garlic and maybe some chorizo for a special treat. Fiddlehead - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG

  22. Stunning. Would you mind giving us a roll call please? I know a few of the birds in those shots but there's lots that I don't.
