  1. Wet and miserable outside is a good enough reason for me too. Got mine on again this evening. That and a good old bit of Roy Orbison really hits the spot!
  2. Of course not. What even is Global Warming? It's just a figment of Greta Thunberg's imagination. [emoji12][emoji12][emoji50]
  3. Six of one and half a dozen of the other.
  4. Still lighting the wood burner on occasional especially cold nights here. Not too bothered about it apart from the faff of it. I'm quite happy to burn up the rat contaminated dregs of logs from this particular stack as I've got a load of cords waiting to be processed and stacked but currently no free bays. It was a record breaking April in terms of frosty nights and low temperatures so not really a surprise. Not right though is it?
  5. The scrap men will be in tears once your secret to burning metal gets out!
  6. A lick of paint here and there wouldn't go amiss either. Don't know what he's been doing with his time, lazy bugger! [emoji12]
  7. What a legend. Inspirational.
  8. Don't worry, I've a couple of baskets for my eggs! The majority will be under glass. Any idea why last year was so good? So far this year is looking pretty bad. After weeks of near draught we've now got bitterly cold gales, heavy showers of rain, hail and even snow today, and intermittent frosts. Lovely!
  9. My toms are looking slightly leggy now. Guess I didn't get them out in the greenhouse quick enough this season. So it sounds like given the dilemma between light and heat you'd choose light. With hindsight I think you're right. A lesson there. I normally grow only indoor tomatoes, to grow in the greenhouse. Last year I also had a couple of types that promised to be suitable for outdoor growing. I was skeptical given our British climate, but they were actually very productive. More so than most of the indoor plants. I'm sure they get better pollination for one thing. So I'm growing a few more of them this year.
  10. This looks really good. Knots 3D - Apps on Google Play PLAY.GOOGLE.COM Learn to tie more than 150 knots in 3D!

  11. It was the loudest Dawn Chorus of the year this morning apparently. I've no idea how that was determined. The old dicky birds were quite vocal here anyway.
  12. Oh dear. I normally quite like the guy when he's on GQT and when he pops up on TV sometimes, but he's definitely dropped a bollock there! He's completely got the wrong end of the stick and then massively over thought it. However, I don't believe it was anything to do with racism, he didn't mention that, even implicitly. That idea smells like anti-wokers trying to provoke an argument that wasn't there.
  13. That's good going. When did you put the toms out in the greenhouse? Mine are 2" tall and I thought they were ahead of schedule.
  14. Finally, some rain today. A joyous sight. Not so joyous was getting woken up at some unearthly hour by a blackbird shouting about the forthcoming rain!
  15. I think Mattocks are an underrated digging tool. I couldn't do without mine for any kind of ground work. So much better than a pickaxe in my opinion. They're really come into their own when when there's any roots or stumps involved.
  16. That's bloody hard graft. How long did that take you? Good idea with the stumpery.
  17. That's why I said "something more like" PR. [emoji848] There's no easy answer but the current setup is obviously not working. Heaven forbid that someone the likes of Farage were to ever get into power! Though on reflection he couldn't be that much better that Boris surely.
  18. Pretty astute there analysis I'd say.
  19. I see your point but I think you give the ruling elite too much credit. They're too arrogant to change the way they behave, unless they are really forced to. Independents and all the smaller parties would have to attract so many votes between them as to deprive the big two of the majority. That's a lot to ask. The "wasted vote" was intentionally in quotation marks, it was a somewhat tongue in cheek comment. I've voted for the smaller parties in the past, and will do so in future. I just meant that our current system is not really fair for the likes of them.
  20. They'd be a good option, they've obviously got their priorities in the right order. Sadly though unless/until we can reshape our electoral system to something more like Proportional Representation they'll always be a "wasted vote" in our broken system.
  21. I'm struggling at the moment, no where's to put the many pots of young plants, seedlings and germinating seeds. Run out of window sill space in the house and still too cold at night to move things into the greenhouse.
  22. She's not been idle then! Lots going on there.
  23. Ai, you've got a bargain there.
