  1. I'm glad you had thought of that cos I hadn't! I've only ever used a horizontal bandsaw.
  2. Loading isn't to much of an issue as we have a job loadall but rolling them while on the table could be fun at chest hight! I suppose I could make a gantry to walk on?
  3. Yes that's the one I just hope it behaves! I will put some pics up when it arrives next week. Do I dig a pit or leave it on its stand?
  4. It's sat on a large steel frame at the moment so the bottom wheel is just above floor height no pit needed. it ment you worked on a gantry and the deck was at chest height. But means the head wheel is over 11'6'' tall! Anyone seen another stenner set up with the Base wheel above ground?
  5. Cheers for the help codlasher conduit for the electrics is a cracking idea!
  6. I'm a welder fabricator by trade so steel shouldn't be a problem. Is your motor bolted to the floor on slides or on your metal frame?
  7. That would be great! Cheers
  8. Has anyone got a set of stenner 48 bandrack pit plans that they could share with me or has a stenner fitted who could give me some measurements? I've taken the plunge and bought one! Let the fun and games begin! It's a late mainly steel construction version with 12mtr bed and a 6mtr rack. It's the first one I've bought/used so any information would be great. Ps I've spoken to stenner and they don't have plans anymore:thumbdown: it's coming next week so I will get some photos of it and the fitting of it under my building if it's of interest
  9. Well I have a decision to make and I really don't know what to do! I have a Trakmet 600 with a debarker, planking computer and powered feed. It's a fantastic bit of kit and works great! I also have a Forestor 900 vertical band rack that will do a 24foot long cut. It's as basic as they come and has no computers or gadgets but it's built like a barn door! It's also done next to nothing so it's nice and tight. I can't afford to keep both so one has to go but which one? I've got no experience on the forestor so I can't compare the two. Any thoughts on what to do would be greatly appreciated!
  10. It's on its standard roller table I have a trakmet 600 and this forestor and I'm wondering which to keep? The forestor is in bits at the minute so it's not like I can just have a quick test:confused1:
  11. Can anyone tell me the largest log diameter you can break down on one of these forestor 900 band rack mills is and also what's the largest planking width? Cheers

  20. I'm repairing a set of doors off a douvre at the minute new glass being fitted hours of fun drilling out the old screws and re tapping the threads!
  21. I've a ph 260 and I can't knock it its a great machine accurate and we'll built and it's movable with a pump truck 360kg.they are a pain to set up if you don't have the right setting tools but if you get yourself a setting kit sorted they are doddle. Ive been machining kiln dried oak on ours and it handles it no problems. I pass fresh sawn larch through it to with no problems. I use 120x60 steel whitehill cutters on it and it spins them up fine and will move a huge amount of timber very quickly in one pass.
  22. I'm getting on grand cheers big j. I'm on with building a double garage at the minute and also setting out my woodworking workshop. I'm having hours of fun trying to set up a wadkin radial arm saw for the timber that comes off the mill. I'm also going to try a tungsten carbide tipped blade in the mill so that should be interesting!
