  1. I had an 066 and the engine caseing got a hair line crack on it. It wasnt very old either. It never ran rite from day one we were not impresed. We ran two 038 av's and thay were belters thay went on for ever. But i think the build quality has gone down the pan. Theres not much difference between the real thing a the toy Stihls for kids (all plastic)! I'll just nip and get my hard hat ready for the public stoneing!
  2. I have a big husky 3120 xp i bought it to use on a timber mill but ive only used it 3 or 4 times. I do firewood too but i think its a bit over the top! I used it a handfull of times to slab up four or five big trees at once because my Palax 600 would only do 10" but now ive just bought a bigger Palax that comes next week so its redundant again. It comes with a 42" bar and two new chains. Do i keep it and use it rarely or sell it? Its like brand new but what would i get for it? But i still need a saw for the odd big bits!
  3. Hello Mr Ed he wants £45 a ton for hardwood but we think hes on the fiddle?
  4. Hello Skyhuck 12" is fine. My processor will do 10" but i can slab it 4/5 logs at a time with my big Husky what you wanting a ton and can you deliver?
  5. I was paying £25 a ton today he wants £35! If you can supply me that would be great. Were are you based?
  6. My softwood supplier is charging like a wounded rhino! Its gone up £10 in a month! He says its because of a biomass power station in Lockerbie. Is he pulling my leg or not? If anyone Knows were i can get it at half decent price please let me know. Im based in Lancashire.
  7. You could get a tractor and a 3 phase pto generator youve got the best of both worlds then. 3 phase pto generators come up for sale on ebay quite often. My mate runs his yard off one. I bought a 20 kva one a year ago for 600 quid.
  8. We have a Hunter 14 its great. Its running 12 rads and its very easy to control. I burn nothing but softwood on it and you can make it last for ages. My dad has a Hunter 20b its about 18 yrs old and still going strong.
  9. Id go blade every time not chain. I cut over 900 ton last year and im just having my blade set, sharpened and 6 carbide tips put on. £ 15 to have it sharpened and set and £ 2.15 each for a tip. The only thing that lets a blade down is if it gets hot (timber rubs one side while cutting) the blade will warp while it expands and wobles like buggery! Mine makes tones off bloody saw dust so what a chain would be like i dred to think!
  10. :confused1:Im looking for an old 360 track machine digger. I want to put a timber grab on it then i can move my stock about. Im getting a bit fed up of hand balling 40 plus tons of firewood a week. Me back is starting to not want to bend in a morning!. There used to be loads of them sat in farmers fields doing nowt and now i want one thay have all been scraped! If any one has got one doing nowt and wants to sell it please let me now. Also has anyone made a timber bench to load a firewood processor easy or hard to make?

  12. Im busy to. Im moving about 8-10 tons of seasoned firewood a week at the minute. Ive nearly worn me palax out!
