  1. Keep going as a plumber and do the tickets one by one spread over as much time as you need to pay for it. And keep an eye at for jobs. Leaving a good job for a possible job in arb with no tickets is like jumping out of a perfectly good aeroplane and hoping to land safely but without a parachute!
  2. Reading and signing, is not the same as knowing and remembering.
  3. Do you mean chainsaw and climbing skills or arb theory/science side of things. If you mean climbing etc then Arborventure are somewhere near you. Arbor Venture - Chainsaw and tree climbing training
  4. Yeah its is crappy to climb on, but the limbs are heavy, so you'd think it would be ok. I'll put some green onto a hot fire and see what happens.
  5. Or knowing where the nearest a&e is. It could be a couple of miles down the road or 30+. Its worth knowing!!
  6. One fo the most dangerous things IMO is groundies (aerial rescuers or not) not knowing where you are, geographically! So you cut yourself and get down out of the tree on the adrenaline rush as mentioned above. Then pass out! Groundie calls ambulance, they say where are you? Knackered!! However elaborate your rescue kit and plan is, it is essentiat to have adress, postcode, grid refs etc easily available to everyone on site.
  7. Yep, pollarded the lime and crown lifted one silver birch a couple of weeks ago, then felled the other one but had to do it on a saturday. Stroud is full of tree police though!! Looks like everyone has just come back from glastonbury but not last years one, more like glasto 1978!! We had loads of complaints from people who then came back later to take all the free firewood!!
  8. Sounds like a challenge!??
  9. ?????????? it is early in the morning mate, bless!
  10. Got one limb off a tree of heaven last week. Not much firewood but some. Anyone have any experience of it? I've left it to one side of the log pile for now until I know if its any good.
  11. Plenty of those. I have a groundie who's really good at takign photos, so I think I end up with a bit more that just a bloke up a tree pictures. I'm gonna have a look at the video this mornign and see if there is anything useable. Probably not!!!!!!
  12. Its working out well so far mate!
  13. Yep, its on the "to do" list.
  14. Yep, back of Lansdown road in Stroud.
  15. It shouldn't slip down if the rope is holding you up, so almost under the hips and then it lifts you making you lighter and so you move better round the tree. Its is supposed to lift you from the hips so maybe I was right the first time.
  16. Sure is. Anyone done it? I've watched a few times but never done it. I can imagine my ankles breaking!! Its got so popular now though because of the internet, you have to get there the night before to get a space to watch from!!
  17. Maybe I'm thinking waist. On the hips then, as low as feasable without going below.
  18. Its strange how the camera only comes out on nice sunny days! Makes it look like all our days I like that! I wish!
  19. Yeah right, have you seen the time? Maybe put some up tomorrow.
  20. On or just below. As low as you can get it really!
  21. more pics
  22. Can't put this in rigging and roping cos the only rigging we did was not exactly text book!! Anyway silver birch close to house, decking below between tree and house and some garden under the tree but 8 telephone wires directly under crown plus a few more further away. Did it on a saturday so we could use the office carpark next door and chuck everything over wires into car park. Lovely! Then some logs into the garden at the end........
  23. Don't go this way from Cheltenham very often, but did today and passed this very famous hill with a little dustign of snow on it. I'm sure everyone local to here knows what hill it is, anyone else know?

Older timberwolfs are under 750 if you take the spare wheel off and maybe the spout!! If your spending 5-6k then its goign to bell past 750hrs anyway so just check the service history. My last one got traded in with 900hrs on it on original bearings. I knew they would need changing soon but they were ok at that point. I chnge the blades regularly and look after my machines as best I can. Timberwolf are great for owner operator machines IMO.
  25. I've pm'd angus and asked for a link for the folding euc video cos I can't find it anywhere. He says its not available on line but will get it up on youtube when they get back from some work somewhere really cool sounding!!!!!
