  1. Cool. i was also looking at all the big dead oak trees on the roadside, i wonder why they are left is it for concervation or lack of money by the landowners.

  3. I was in bintree today to visit my mum and we went to reepham and went for a walk along the disused railway track what a lot of pole ash just right for firewood how many of you norfolkians know the place i was at?

  6. I have also got veteran HC i must try and find time to check them all for bleeding canker ialso have red and indian but i dont think they are affected by the BC or the leaf miner mind you i have noticed a few spots on the reds:ohmy:

  16. She is in a horse paddock oh dear. I have now fenced her off but she must be well compacted i have just grown 50 saplings from her seed they are now 2 years old so i will plant a couple near her to carry on when she dies the trouble here in the park is deer try growing trees with browsing deer reds and fallow:ohmy:

  19. Bacterial wetwood when i started on this estate they used to leave tree guards on till they split but this causes bacterial wetwood and the bark is soft as this hardens gases build behind the bark and explodes leaving a wound.
  20. lee and chris i have got an oak tree 800 years old would you feed and decompact or would you just mulch with a bucket of worms? i wonder if you have worked with trees of this age before?

  22. They will give you advise like when you cut a blackthorn thicket let it come back thick for the hawfinches but who wants blackthorn in a working wood apart from shooting woods.
  23. No idea lee i thought chris packed up his job to work with a partner in a new venture, i only know you guys as virtual mates but i have started to meet one or two of you maybe we should have an east anglian christmas party for all us carrot munchers:001_smile:
