  8. i used help the old fella in school hols left school 82 & joined his firm @ 15 the same age he was when he started @ arther greens @ silsden in 1948 been in the trade ever since like all things has its ups & downs but i wouldnt do anything else 2,nd generation in the blood, hopfully my girls will follow in my footsteps maybe not?

  13. we split strait in to the bag now ,put them in order so you take dryest out first i dont think you need the expence of vented bags a good breez will dry timber even in bags as we have found.
  14. hows this the lad that works for split 2,ton off green oak by mistake so i put it in a seprate pile out off the way, i looked @ this pile the other day & thought whers all that gone ? landscapers thinking i wouldnt notice & make a few quid, have had it away well most of it so i calmley mentiond to them not to take take off that pile as it will need 2yrs + to dry out as it is piss wet thru knowing they had sold to some of there regular maintance custumers ?well i found quite amusing ?

  17. daft as it sounds we do some times. some one turnd up in posh 4x4 said chuck em the back & got bag back so thats an extra £2.30 we dont sell softwood /poplar willow all the crap goes thru bio-mass chipper for playground chip & thats better £s than logs
  18. the wood was seasend whan bagged normaly sheet them over picture taken on a logging day. moving logs @ £55 per bag is better than looking @ them @ £75 taking room up in the yard ! sold 65 bags this season ? sacks are a bit slower but just started with them tho
  19. i wont be running out i own a large woodland needs lots of timber removing re wind blown dead stuff beech/ash/sycamore
