Rhys, I dont think there is enough emphasis on tree care, or how your passionate about trees etc. If someone values their tree(s) a great deal and wants a sympathetic reduction etc they will want to know you are knowledgable about how trees grow and how you understand that the tree is important to the client. Having worked in your area for a tree care company I know that there are many people like that in the wealthy neighbourhoods where you work. I would include some shots of nice looking trees, still photographs, you have to seperate yourself from the other companies out there. It's not enough to show a big Pine removal, most folk want to know about you and what kind of person you are, they dont generally care about a tree surgeon knocking lumps out of trees.

Aspen, I may have met you at a previous APF and if your the guy I'm thinking of then you seemed like a very intelliigent person. You were the guy who did the demo with the bits of polystyrene dropped into regular unleaded then into Aspen, a great demo that speaks volumes about your product. The first aid kit attached to a combi can is not a good idea, its a bad idea. Forget about the first aid kit before you realise it was a bad idea and you've wasted money on it. No disrespect, but it's quite apparent that you have never worked day in/day out in the field of arboriculture, I could be wrong about that, but putting that first aid kit on that combi can is one of the worst ideas I've seen in a long time. It would get filthy and damaged in no time regardless of the bandages being sealed. Every tree surgeon I work with carries a blood stopper or small first aid kit on them at all times, and a proper first aid kit is always on site. There is no need for the combi-can first aid kit. The combi can on it's own without the first aid kit is an excellent idea, coincidently I am seriously considering moving to Aspen and would definitely buy the combi can device. Sorry to sound harsh but that is my opinion.

Tony, Page 86 of Modern Arboriculture is right in my opinion, I have split wood many times and have seen exactly what he is referring to. Your belief in Duncan's paper is based on faith. My belief in Shigo's model is based on experience. Remember Tony (both of you).........human progress is an illusion.

Just had a chance to sit and listen uninterrupted. Duncan better have a very good explanation as to why Shigo's model of a lateral branch attachment is wrong. I find it very unusual that he would say this is the case when his project was part time over a year meanwhile Shigo spent a lifetime dissecting and studying timber. I think Duncan may have made a mistake regarding this issue or at the very least.....misunderstood Shigo's model. There is very little if anything Shigo has been wrong about.
