Bit of advice please???
Looked at a job earlier, for a client who wants extend his house, the proposed extension takes the edge of the building up to about 3metres away from the base of a old tamarisk.
Do you think it needs prunning, leaving or felling?? The soil is clay (if that helps)
Cheers

That's a big old beech!!

Just looking at Rapidlee's thread on his massive yew and it got me thinking......doesn't happen that often!!
So what's the oldest tree you've had the pleasure of climbing??
I'll start off, about 10 years ago I climbed a yew in a church yard in Hampshire that was documented at 560 years old. I bet there's a few of you out there that can beat that?

If its possible, burn the rubbish. If not, cut all the lose growth with a hedge cutter and bag it up (its very light). Cut the dense middle into blocks with a saw or hedge cutter. The roots are quite easy to dig out with a mattock.
Great advice, exactly what we've done in the past. Take care though, I've come across a few wasps nests in pampas grass.

Hello, I looked at a job today, Robinia pollard. But the house was situated on a main road (A-road). It's not got double yellows or even single so can I park the truck/chipper up and cone off etc etc. Or being an A-road do I have to get traffic lights?? It's probably a days work.
cheers

I've got the Zermatt GTX boots and I can't fault them, apart from in my experiance they come up a bit small so order a half size larger and that should sort you out. Jonesie sells them aswell

That is outrageous!!!

I've delivered 100 in the past and got 5 jobs from that, then I've had 5000 delivered and picked up 2 jobs. Luck of the draw is what I'd say.

My mate was telling me the other day that his boss had a Norway maple reduction booked in near power lines. The lads turned up and some of the branches that had to be reduced werw over the lines. The branches were that long and close to the wires that he had to put a sling around them and take up the slack on a lowering rope to a figure of 8 so that the branch didn't drop and touch the wires when he got out to the end.
That really winds me up, I'm an employer and I'd NEVER expect my lads to put themselves in that position. The jobs dangerous enough without risks like that.
I told him he should have walked away and inserted a rocket up his bosses ar**
I've lost plenty of jobs ion the past due to other contractors not bothering about power line shutdowns etc. Bit of a bug bear of mine!!
Rant over.

I'm on the verge of ordering the dell Inspiron 560 looks like a good buy. Just trying to eeek out thelast few days on the good old faithful laptop!!!!
-
I know, friends tell me mac is the way to go, but they are also pretty pricey!!! Find me one for 6-700 quid and i'll snap it up.
-
It all depends on what you intend to do on it and remember that you get far more for your money from a desktop than a laptop so if you dont need the mobility go for a desktop.
I think the inspiron 560 is a desktop........isn't it?????????????
-
I'm currently on a Dell Inspiron, had it about 3months and to date no problems.
I've been recommended to get the inspiron 560 ST???
