  1. Thought you'd like an update

After sending a quote in pointing out the very possible outcomes and providing him with the phone number of a structural enginneer he calls me today to give me the go ahead.

He hasn't called the number I supplied, I advised him strongly to do so. And so we'll be rocking up with a disclaimer of sorts and fell the tree. Anyone got any such disclaimers they keep on file that they could ping over to me???

    It would be appreciated.

    TA

  2. Hello peeps

Got a email today to quote for this planting job, I could really do with a hand on pricing this one up, the quantities are there, so how long do you reckon a 2 or 3 man gang could knock this one out in??

Thanks for the help, bit stumped on it.

    Ta very much

  3. how intricate do you wana do stuff and are you based in whistable??

    Search Results

I think as a starter " intricate" may be a bit unattainable for me!! I dunno, just fancied messing about a bit at the yard at the end of the day.

And yes we are based in Sunny Whitstable, you're in Fav aren't you??

  4. I’m thinking of getting the D80 converted mate, either that or buying a 2nd hand D100 or 200 and then converting that (it’s a fairly expensive operation and still need a back-up camera).

I remember using infra red back in the days of 35mm. Whack a red filter on the front and you get the most amazing shots of tree, the leaves come out almost white. I've still got a few 16x12's hidden away somewhere!!

I'm still learning the ropes with the digital age, I've got a d200 (first digital slr) and I love it........built like a rock.

Enjoying these threads, keep it up peeps

  5. Personaly at 45 foot this oak is young and with the last two really wet seasons, soil moisture deficit is unlikely IMO

I would say that before a previous reduction it must have been 60ft, but yes, the tree in Oak terms is young. It still remains to be said that it's a tree of size in close proximity to a building.

I've always read these threads with interest and there's always a real debate and conflicting opinions, personally I think that it should be OK but its always good to get other thoughts on a subject.

Maybe a disclaimer is a good idea aswell.

  6. I'd say no worries, just sign this dis-claimer here. here aaaaand here.

Explain to them the possible heave consequences and walk away with a disclaimer :thumbup1:

Thought about that, how do you reckon it would stand up if things got legal??

  7. what, will they not let you dismantle it for some reason?:confused1:

Certainly, if it's to come down it needs to be dismantled, my worry is Heave/Shrink in the soil. Don't fancy being sued in a few years time when they have to re-build!!!

    Sorry to confuse old chap

  8. Looked at a job today...........Big oak lets say 3ftDBH approx 45 ft (previously reduced) tall and 6 feet from the side elevation of a house.

Clay soil and they want it felled!!!

    Gotta be a staged fell????

    What do you peeps reckon??
