  3. NPTC tickets or any other tickets mean sod all, only years on the job makes the real difference,
  4. ive heard few people say that big firms dont really have much concern for safety it so untrue bigger firm that have 4,6, or 12 years contracts or that are going for a contracts that are worth milllions have to spot on with health and safety and have lot more to lose, and some smaller firms havent the cash flow to maintain high standard of health and safety. i work for a large firm and deal with other large firms and 99% of the manager have been on the tool for many years before comeing managers. the real difference is that large firms have a good cash flow so you want for nothing not relying on the next job to pay for iterms.

  10. £400 might be unrealistic for start of pay with many firms but if you went to a larger firm that give price work its not unrealistic.and there many pluses working for a larger firm is they give all your tickets free and if your willing to have a go at climbing you can learn real quick and there never a shortage of work, i say the only minus side for new climber its nearly all street trees not back garden work which isnt a bad thing either what area do you live

    Aero rescue

i done my aero rescue appox 8 years ago, just done my first aid course what was a refeasher about couple months ago that when we found out they are still teaching the first aid part in aero rescue wrong, when i go into work tomorrow i get the address and phone no of the medical team that have whritten to hse and the assessment teams and he can explain it to you all clearer
  14. dodger

    Aero rescue

the medical board and st johns said by putting a person in a recovery position after 3 minutes hanging from a harness there much great risk he or her will die of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), in most countrys they put the victim in the crouch position, the medical board in the uk have advice the hse and assessment broad to use the crouch position at no veil, it will cost lives i would adivce anyone to speak to anyone in the medical field on this as many have been miss lead
  15. Aero rescue, when I did my aero rescue course I was told like others when you get them to ground you must put the injury person in the recovery position But when we did our renewal first aid course the other day they said when you aero rescue someone that wearing a harness you must put them in a crouch position, we ask why because as we was told different in our aero rescue course, the red cross and medical board in the states and uk have now recognise that by putting a person that has been hanging from a harness for more that 3 minutes can die from, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) especial if you put them in the recovery position you can kill them, you must put them in a crouch position The Red Cross and medical broad has written to assessment broad many months ago but they are on deaf ears, the way most of us have been taught can atually kill someone, thinking your doing right it as you been taught that way, and they still teach them at aero rescue courses to use the recovery position
  16. had a mate who started climbing at the age of 40 he pick it up real quick paul wasnt the fastest but he was reliable give him a job and you wouldnt have a worrys with him doing it, if you dont mind hard work and have some common sense have a go, the only minus side the money wouldnt be to great at 40 years old unless you went with a firm that do price work.

    chapter 8

ok lots of firms only have the chapter 8 and they dont need unit 10 to supervisors unit 8 lop hole around it, but there many newbies groundmen that have unit 8 after only a days training, were our concern are if this newies bloke was working on a busy road and say put out 30 mph cones on a 6o mph road any accidents he resonable and he will be sue for damages, not the firm. lot of big firms have done this knowing the people that have unit 8 will take the rap if anything goes wrong even man slaughter charges. it taken all the resonabiltys of the directors to the poor sod that have chapter 8, not saying all firms would do this but it can happen

    our health

it not how fit you are wasn your knee joint and back goes you are no good to man and beast, and the company you work for are not going to keep you, my self think hse should look into common injuries course by tree work over the years, its like some firms do plane in the summer surely this must have a effect later on in someones life most old climber i know all have common back pain in the lower spine climbing is a demanding job and over the years we all going to have aches and pains course by wear and tear to our joints, just think there should be a safe guard into place so we are not just put on the scrap heap

    chapter 8

that right we are the wiser ones us oldies, sadly the young muppet that in court might be faceing a prison sentence, we old muppets did tell him not to take the course but being a newby he did as he felt under pressue from the boss, like i said as soon the court case finnishes we but a link up and the hse said they have to look into it. us old muppet do like changes but within reason, as to finding work any donut can get a ticket, tickets dont mean sob all

    chapter 8

the supervisors and managers still have to supervise and manage this is were the law is a ass your right they should be supervise and manage but by giving them chapter 8 it gives them the reasonabilties and dont have to be supervise and manage. there a court case going on invovling a traffic accident were tree surgeons had it cone out, when its finnish i can post it on here its a right eye opeaner

    chapter 8

its the individual that has chapter 8 not the company fault because . but how many companys out there dont have the the full proper signs, cones etc but put pressure on there blokes to get the work done,
  22. dodger

    chapter 8

do you think it ok to give newbies some or young groundmen that have only been in the game for a few months and give them a one days course on chapter 8 and the company can say it your fault when it does go horrible wrong because you had one days training. the older ones did seek out the law on this that why they are alittle wiser
  23. dodger

    chapter 8

firm i work for just put 6 young blokes through this course a ONE DAY COUSRE that give them all this resonabitly when they get there tickets and its there head that will roll, it funny the older guys and wiser all have refuse to do it.
  24. dodger

    chapter 8

thats right, but been told by a solicator if you have chapter 8 you are putting your head on the block if anything does go wrong
  25. dodger

    chapter 8

lot of firms are putting t groundsmen through chapter 8 i been told if you take this course and have the tickets and any does go wrong ie if you never use the right cones or not enough signs you can take the full wrap, just be carefull if you are ask to take this course and try and get some legal advice to see were you do stand on this
