  1. could always take a hacksaw to the top of the truckman, it only cost me a tenner on ebay? hey that might be a good idea?
  2. hadn't thought of that? could always hire a midget to help me?
  3. looks not much bigger than my truckman top? I will try and get a pic and compare. any idea of size? eg. height of the top at the back?
  4. that's my hilux! no on second thought's... nice set up , just what i was thinking of.
  5. so just because you have a 6" chipper you don't necessarily (not spelt right i'm sure???!!) have to put 6" stuff in it? it just handles the smaller stuff quicker, am i right?
  6. I rent my house off him! good idea or not to rent business space?
  7. so what's the minimum size for a small outfit, (1 bloke and a hilux with truckman top!) got to start somewhere!
  8. cheers for the info was thinking of the free firewood thing as payment , but he might use a cord a week (he lives in a big farmhouse, and i mean big!)
  9. makes sense as you are not paying for barn space, you can make some kind of temporary structure to keep the wood dry?
  10. Was having a chat with a local tree chap discussing chipper sizes and he got me thinking? I gather a 5" or 6" chipper is the norm . But he said why go above 3" as you can sell 4" wood as firewood ? makes sense or not? 1. the chipper is cheaper and 2. you can produce more firewood , (more firewood = more bucks?)
  11. Just wondered what you all have out there? I'm meeting the local farmer on the morrow to see what he might have for me to use as a starter site, ie somewhere to put wood chippings (corner of field ,wood?)logs (barn?) somwnere near where i live? what should i look for?
  12. and i thought i was a good photographer! great shot mate...
  13. law changed last sept or oct can't remember which but you can now use up to 2500 litres of veg oil per year for private use with no tax to pay! Weeeeeeeeee!! you are meant to keep a record of use with you in case you get stopped (a small notebook in the cab i presume?)
  14. re - greenworldbiodiesel.co.uk - 89.3p and it says you should mix it 50/50 in the colder weather with diesel? think i will stick to my Lidl 49p veg oil/diesel mix its cheaper
  15. I agree with what your saying mr ed, but eden arb has the same Lux as i have so he can do a 50/50 mix its the older type diesel engine. did loads of research on the hpoc.co.uk forum and as you said you cannot run 50/50 on the newer common rail or direct injection diesels but on the older 94 mk3 2.4 like mine and edenarbs you can. just change the oil and fuel filter regularly. I have done a couple of thousand miles no problems.
  16. please tell me the devil made you do it?
  17. I picked up a tidy hilux single cab a few weeks ago L reg 2.4 diesel. ( truckman top came from ebay £10 ) To counter the heavy fuel i have been running on 50/50 vegoil/diesel mix runs just great with no mods. even runs smoother if you can believe that! diesel at £1.10 and veg oil at 49p a litre, equates to a £14 saving per tankfull (not to be sniffed at!)
  18. Have just driven back from the alps and was just thinking the same thing ( ie business names) came up with - Tree Tennors - Tree Musketeers - Tree amigos had a laugh with the missus, but came to the conclusion that it might give people a laugh but they would probably call someone who sounded a bit more professional!?? still like Tree Musketeers though....
  19. you lot think your in trouble, i've had the talk, last week the week before and then she said at least we are going skiing next week! yup you guessed it Greetings from the alps! ow that hurt, clip round the ear if you didnt guess.
  20. Hey get to play with tree's and chainsaws everyday and pay no tax - for godsake don't tell everyone otherwise there will be no trees left!
