  2. http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/members-only/36340-tv-oak-stockholm-4.html#post577183
  3. I can't find the thread that I think was named TV-oak Stockholm.... Anyone seen it or has it been removed? If so why?
  4. Its all about having good (brilliant) teachers and sharing stuff! We got there in the end! I owe you:blushing:
  5. Well you didn't see it in the flesh, blame it on that!
  6. So keep derailing.... There is no link cause there is no organised work beeing carried out, its all phone, facebook, sms and mail action... I might start a thread about it if its ok with the others that gathered info... Sorry.....again...
  7. Cheers mate! Turned out to be a partially sterile and panic(?)fruiting Daedalea quercina...! It was weird and didnt look like anything I've seen before...

    Wages??

    You guys getting paid!?! I do this for the love of trees!!!! and a Cupcake.
  10. Sorry about the slight derail... And as for your question; I have no experience in Picus but I'm sure Treeser could answer any of your questions.
  11. A fully investigated veteran tree, with aid of Arbotoms, prior to felling will be a valuable resource in future similar decisions especially as there are several Picus readings from several years to compare with. The collective information will be a valuable resource in Sweden and hopefully for others too.
  12. Part of the assessment is to verify wether the tree is dangerous or not NOW, next step will be the discussion on future prognosis.
  13. Different people doing different things... Time is short and Arborists are gathering snippets of info, pro bono, in between jobs. The puzzle will be laid and a lot of scientific data can be evaluated and put to some good use. Everyone is asking for favors in the name of Arboriculture.
  14. Spot on I reckon. How many members are we? Lets just start using it and the industry will tremble....THE POWER OF ARBTALK! Duncan? You've seen this, right? http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/tree-health-care/25575-fork-failure-duncan-slater.html
  15. Is that the ArborTom software? If so a group of Arborists is using that to build a 3d image of the TV.oak in Stockholm to collect as much info as possible of a Veteran tree that is under threat of beeing felled. Very visual readings and easy to get a very good and refined picture of the stability and weight distribution of the tree.
  16. Would you mind to elaborate? I dont know much about Oak mazegill except its a right pretty one... Specifics about this find much appreciated (and in relation to Laetiporus...) Brown rotter? Only heartwood? Necrotrophic? Pic of sample;
  17. Oh the joy of the fungal kingdom! I took a wedge of one of the brackets and left it to dry... The reproductive layer opened up and, hey! Daedalea quercina:thumbup:
  18. They are actually from same tree and same spot... Weird looking ones.. I cut a wedge from one and it was sort of greyish inside... no guttation that I could see. Not anamorf Laetiporus, Perenniporia or something? Found a picture of kärnticka - Inonotus dryophilus that resembeles the ones in the pics.
  19. On oak (Quercus robur) Its all rubbery and sort of spongy...
  20. Papers? Harry Potter and Star Wars scenic forest molested?
