  1. Yep XTC fire seems a popular one, I've only ever used two climbing ropes but really liking the flexibility of the XTC fire, oh and most importantly the colours are pretty
  2. While we are on the topic, this truck belongs to a company i used to do some work with, its finally ready for work and is looking very nice indeed, similar to Mr Ed's truck I think advertised a while back but a 4x4 version.
  3. The company i work for is apparently getting a 4x4 4.2t crew cab transit, anyone got any info at all on one of these? Didn't think they existed and can't find anything on google. Thanks.
  4. Thats a relief, could have taken another day to clear all that wood out, nice job.
  5. Where are you moving to? I'm in Claverham I know a few companys in the area, will PM you some details.
  6. The minimum you could probaly spend on getting the basic setup of truck, chipper, few saws, hedgecutter would be about 10,000-15,000 but that would be really old kit. Then you need the space to store it so theres another cost on renting out a secure shed and site to get rid of all the waste and you will probaly need to employ someone so it all adds up.
  7. When I left college I worked for a tiny company who trained me up as a climber and they treated me really well. I now work for a big company (just done my first week) and they treat me even better, although I think this company is a rare one. I would always suggest that a college leaver goes for a small company who is willing to train as they will get more attention.
  8. Cheers, no idea mate must have been standing dead for a long time though.
  9. I know nothing about them but exactly the same thing happened to my missus car, turns out there was a bulge in the front tyre. I'm sure you've checked them anyway.
  10. Only when attaching the lowering rope doing my gob cut mate. It did give me a lot of confidence on how strong a dead tree can be, obviously each tree is different but that one would have been no problem climbing.
  11. I was anchored into the tree behind just incase the cedar gaveway under the strain of the chumps being lowered off it.
  12. Last Wednesday I dismantled this cedar. I snatched it off itself even though it was pretty rotten but wasn't once anchored into the tree itself. It all went very smoothly and smelt damn good.
  13. Its on the edge of a woodland but directly above a dry stone wall, thats why we have to lower. Yeah Peter I think my best bet is to anchor in the tree behind, make all the necessary cuts then un-tie from the cedar while the groundscrew pull from way back.
  14. Also, would you think its safe to snatch some of the trunk down on the dead cedar?
  15. Yeah a turfer winch would have been a far better bet, but we didn't have access to one and after careful consideration we decided that Greg should risk his life instead of mine, haha, no he knows what hes doing. Got a winch for tomorrow after I clean up this dead Cedar and half it we're going to winch the rest up the bank.
  16. Up rooted beech hung up in Oak yesterday, this is my work mate Greg.
  17. Thanks for the tips. I will try all these methods next time because its bound to happen again! (or at least tell my boss, he never lets me drive it ) It does put a smile on my face though and makes great pub talk when we finally get there. Yeah the tyres need replacing for sure.
  18. I always find theres someone willing to help, like yesterday we got our cabstar stuck on a grass verge and a friendly bloke in a network rail hilux passing by offered to give us a tug. We're good at getting stuck If you send me some info on the winch I could pass it on to my boss, hes after one, cheers.
  19. This happened a while ago now, we managed to get the mog stuck whilst pulling a tree out by reversing over a man made trench. Luckily we found a local farmer who was able to pull us out, all fun and games!
  20. Nice collection there Nev, good for the portfolio!
  21. They are brilliant little cars, they clear all the hills no problem.
