  8. Next time you get a good Walnut, get the whole root out - the best wood is there for gunstocks ! You'll get four figures for a good root !
  9. Yes....with two massive stumps ! I doubt they'll plant any more Elms there, things have changed since the 1600's !

  13. No mate, Elms not Acacia's ! They (Acacia) do some Colleges, and some Council work, not all by any means.
  14. OK I have'nt taken any yet - I'll have to stand a mile away to get em all in !
  15. OK guys....Ive got the two biggest Elms in Europe, 186 and 176 ft, to take down ! The job is in Cambridge for a very prestigous client. Im having the whole lot pro' filmed and made into a feature. I need good men with top kit to get the job done in the best possible way. Im intending to use only arbtalk guys for the job. Forget doing the biggest one, I've earmarked that ans Steve has 1st refusal on the other. No dates yet as its a politically sensitive one ! PM me your thoughts and your PL upper limit ! Only those with relevent big stuff experience need apply. PPS Its top secret, dont tell anyone !
  16. Pikeys only do the work cos so much of it is unskilled and easy.
  17. The fact that theyre small isnt an issue but they dont have the capability to operate in a fully professional and efficient manner. It would be like you trying to do all your tree operations by yourself !
  18. One other thing...the AA make out there a big organisation, its actually a little tin pot outfit working out of a couple of mobile homes !

  22. Yes you need to plan this well ahead - also the trees must be planted close together to weave the branches ! Its a bit of an old art -like hedge laying. I wondered how many of you had done some? there are a lot of blokes on here now - and some ladies too !
  23. looks like a GSD/retreiver cross ? Bet thats a good dog, tough and healthy - will live a long life too !
  24. Well, I'd like to but not sure if Im up to the task - might have to sub- in some of the 'proper' tree blokes !!!!
