  1. I was under the impression you only use a flipline for discing down anyway. When you cant obtain an anchor point above anymore? A sidestrop is used for a secondary anchor point when cutting or to aid work positioning
  2. Ability to drive well is within the individual, not within the ability to pass a test. It will also be down to experience of vehicles driven whether it be pre 97 or post 97, you can't expect someone with no experience of driving a large vehicle to jump in one and drive it without hitting anything. It's absolute tosh to say post 97 driver are far superior to pre 97 drivers
  3. There are Blackthorn whips growing all over the place there, will have to transplant then
  4. Yeh, some of them have put their heads on back to front. I always know which way my head fits on.
  5. Come on, a description of what photos are what and who is who?? Amateur photography
  6. Fluid has never been replaced by me, good point Quickthorn, should have been done during the checks today. Pedal holds steady, I disconnect the vacuum pipe also and pressed and held the pedal then got the wife to reconnect the vacuum pipe, pedal sank so thats working ok.
  7. Cant find a proportion valve anywhere on the rear pipe circuit. Rear disc have a line of rust round the outside so they will be in effect losing 25% of their efficeincy. The NSR brake pipe is squashed flat, although saying that the pads are worn evenly on ns and os so it must be getting the brake pressure through the squished pipe. All pad are worn evenly, and pistons are free. Going to replace two rear discs and pads plus the squished pipe and see how it performs then. I'll put it into a garage to do so they can test it before and after on the rolling road. If it doesn't perform well then, I'll stick a new master cylinder on. If that dont work I'll stick a bomb under it.
  8. Hmmm, I didn't look to be honest, I found a mark on the wall and stared at it, then thought of England
  9. That'll be Squirrel droppings Bob, when he falls asleep up the tree, the squirrels build nests in his harness.
  10. What did he find in yours Dave,,, cobwebs
  11. This isn't aimed at you logger but time served in the industry or any industry doesn't make you good at it either. You only need to looked at the building proffession to see that. I understand what you are saying though, bits of paper don't either. I know people with degrees coming out their ears that can't change the fuse in a plug
  12. Teupen are bomb proof and everything is fail to safe. However, the 15 has a set footprint and only has 6.4m outreach, outreach being the most important value in my opinion. The basket RQG15, does all that the Teupen does except adjustable tracks but has a far better outreach of 8.7m. 2.3m is a huge amount when you can't quite reach that branch.,
  13. Does anyone have a contact for cheap palisade fencing, I may need around 150m of the stuff. It is to fence around my new yard which has a perimeter of around 325m. I'm at a dilema of what to use as a barrier. Obviously I dont want it to cost me a fortune, it needs to be fairly quick to establish a barrier. I have thought of hawthorn, drystone walling, traditional sheep fencing with barbed wire. Drainage ditch at the bottom with a hedge at one side of it? There is 100m of hawthorn already there which would need laying or thickening up. Another 50m of raggy hawthorn which is just about knackered. Anyone got any suggestions
  14. Just been to the doctors for a prostrate check. Got the shock of my life when he asked me to drop my keks, lay on the bench and pull my knees up to my chest Wheey haay, I think he called it a rectal digital examination. I just think he fancied me.
  15. There should be a no claims bonus scheme with the Arb industry ...and the job isn't dangerous, its "potentailly dangerous"
  16. I don't know where he got his figures from but we were third and window cleaning came out tops. Window cleaning is a job where, because you are up and down ladders all the time, you can become complacent about placement of ladders. In my veiw, thats not dangerous, thats just dumb ass.
  17. I was talking to an Insurance salesman about most dangerous Jobs. He reckoned that Window Cleaner was on the insurance list of most dangerous job. I said put a chainsaw in their hands and it might be somewhere near comparable to Tree Surgery! Me thinks insurance companies base their figures on most claimed Jobs rather than most dangerous when compiling these figures. What are your thoughts on where Tree Surgery comes on the Dangerous job list.
  18. Surprised it looks so nice Monkeyd. You would think all the grass would be chewed up, after all, all those 4x4s in London need somewhere to take them off road. ..Or is their idea of offroad, chewing up the grass verges outside the infants schools  Sorry, going off topic again
  19. What are the criteria for loler inspections. Ie: What says you have tocarry them out. I would take it that a sole trader who does his own climbing can be responsible for his own checks, but if you employ someone who climbs for you then you would have to pass the responsiblity of checking his harness to a qualified person. ..Or would that employed person, if a contractor be responsible for his own checking I have never had a loler inspection, I inspect my kit regularly and renew most of it after two years use, especailly harness and crabs.
  20. It is disc front and back with salisbury axle at the rear
  21. It was a tarpley swing meter. Correct me if I'm wrong but wont you need to put the transfer box into neutral to allow one axle to be isolated whilst on the rolling road? If so I could just take it to a rolling road and ask them to test it?
  22. I'll check them out this weekend and let you know Chris. b101uk, I don't know the steepness of the hill, but it was a lowbox 1st gear hill. Very steep
  23. Well said, most of the "insurance company takendowns" I have priced have been given a green light by a consultant who should quite frankly not bow to the insurance companies demands.
  24. Something I haven't checked b101uk I will clamp off both front brakes and slowly test the rears in reverse to see how efficeint they are. The problem with the mot is they have to use the swing guage to check the brakes because they say they cant put them on the rolling road.
