  1. Ill look into that but knowing this company probably not!
  2. I could understand it if we all had to go on a climber refresher, I think that should be compulsory, aerial rescue etc. But having to redo 30/31 is just a pointless exercise. I mean how far is it going to go? Are we going to waste half a day teaching us how to sharpen again!
  3. Ok cheers, looks like I'm screwed then, As I'm one of the self employed ones.
  4. Should they pay for the course and pay you for the day? Cheers mike
  5. Alrite guys this a bit of a long story but here goes. There's a few of us who work for an agency, and a working at a major company, we've just been told that those that have had the chainsaw tickets 5 years or longer will need to go on a 3 day refresher, for which we'll have to pay 250 plus not be paid, now some of us are paye and some are "self employed" (yes I know the issues about self employed, no need to point them out . ) So the question is, is there any law that can help us out? Effectively it's going to cost 550 to get a refresher for something that's for life. Any help much appreciated cheers mike
  6. Nice wish I had a workshop to do it in
  7. Come do mine if you want to do another, I'll pay in you in pizza and booze
  8. Ok cheers I'm gonna ring up and see what the lead time is on a chassis, last I heard was six weeks, can't wait that long so that may be the decider!
  9. That's what's making me think, now I've got those out, looking at it I'm half way to doing the chassis too, currently checking prices out, so I'll see. Did you have help Chris? Thing I'm finding since my dad died is even the easiest jobs is a hassle on your own, removing the the screen for example, doesn't weigh much but still needs two to remove it in one piece!
  10. I'm half way through changing my bulkhead and engine, got a outrigger to renew and a couple of patches, but can't decide wether too rechassis it or not, specially as its all being done on the road
  11. Wasn't there an agency called initial? Not sure there going now
  12. I wouldn't be too fussed about synthetic or wire, apart from the weight issue, there's a lot of hype about steel rope, and in this work I'd much prefer steel. In posts like these I always say Superwinch husky, it's slow, been around since Jesus and bulletproof.
  13. I think that's being a little simplistic
  14. I certainly wouldn't of helped him. On a side note this thread comes up as number 4 on google when 5 marines court is googled 😳
  15. Yeah that sounds feasible, it is a Honda engine. Cheers.
  16. Hi anyone heard of this, generator at work was difficult to pull, so got asked to look at it, apparently it started but smoked then stopped. Anyway had a quick look and the pull start was very stiff as it went through compression could hear a squishing, so thought the cylinder was full of oil. But had a look at the oil level/stick and when I undid it petrol literally poured out. Any ideas? Seems to me the petrol is literally running from the tank into the cylinder. It's a hire machine so ill never know the reason just interested
  17. There is a pair that is based on hiflex, the outer mSterial feels/looks similar to hiflex/stretch air material? Where'd you get them from?
  18. So wich have you bought? The hiflex ones or the normal stihl ones?
  19. That's possibly true, though I'm not sure its entirely the material at fault, mine always go along the crotch seems, as if the stitching weakens the seam. The last set only managed about 6 months before failing there, they normally fail climbing over fences. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't charge a premium for them!
  20. Plus they do class 1 and 2 unlike the new stretch airs, which are only 2's ill die in 2's!
  21. Well I've had enough of paying 250 for stretch airs, they can't be any worse than those, and I like my black hiflex, fit me nice too.
  22. Anyone have any idea when the stihl orange hi viz flex trousers come out? They were at the apf but can't find any retailers selling them yet?
