Just looking at getting a combi system, and judging by the money second hand stihl stuff goes for, tempted to try a cheapo of ebay 200 squids and you get brushcutter hedge trimmer and pole saw attachments. Has anyone tried one? Thinking if I get a year out of one and even at worse if the engine goes I'll still have the attachments, would they be the same as stihl ones? Any advice much appreciated. hi i was speaking to someone the other week who said to work for them a s a contractor i'd need a h&s plan, he said i could just go to a consultancy and they'd sort it. what did you guys do? is it something i can do myself? cheers mike

Cheers rupe, like I said no probs paying it, as it saves having a bill at the end of the year. But don't understand why some people want it and some don't. Utr is used to collect tax from self employed subbies@20%. I've been employed like this before, but that to was arb work, not in construction.

doing work for a new company and theyve asked for my utr no., its not a problem ive got it and not got a problem using it, but im just wondering if its necessary in arb work? as i thought it was a construction industry thing, hence being reffered to as cis number sometimes.

anyone reccomend somehwere for an nptc chipper course in the northwest-ish. tried tkf they want 140 quid plus 390 for an assesor for the day, myerscough havnt got one planned and parkside who havnt answered the phone yet. surerly somewhere must be running one.

u know mate, laughing aside i have thought of it! ive got a remote control for it so could wind it in from the tree but no way of doing the freespool lever.

Basically I've done quite a few trees where I've clinmbed up, put my winch cable up to pull it over, before depending on height I've either took my climbing rope up and came down on that or , naughty I know, held onto the cable as I've climbed down. Just wondering if there was a rope-grab-like device u could fasten onto the winch cable to descend with?

Yeah, can't believe I can't find anything. Seems I've got two options, either upgrade to plasma winch rope which isn't worth it cost wise or give ur webbing idea a go, there will only be one or two strands at most so maybe I'm being a bit over cautios

hi guys just wondering if anyone can suggest something to descend on a wire winch cable with obviously rope wont do due to any broke strands etc, would a normal rope grab work? can see them wearing quick due to them being alloy. cheers guys
