  1. Sorry rushing when I wrote the original post, it's a garage that goes to a passage which is like a utility room, then through the back door. But there's shelves and thelike lining the passage, with carpet too, and can just see the dead leaves goin everywhere, would rather chip in the back then barrow or wheelie bin it through. Anyone got one of these jobeau's to lendme !!!

Now ive layed turfing before but the ground has already been prepared, ive never actually done the preparation, so this garden is overgrown with weeds, nettles etc. just wondering am i going to have to remove all the weeds etc, or will i get away with strimming it the rotavating it? cheers for replies.

  14. ahh, that was something else i meant to ask. how people arrange when to go, so every three weeks seems about right. was thinking of so much per garden for the grass cutting as a set price, then anything else added as extra at the time. cheers again.
  15. already emailed them, like you said never know!
  16. hadnt seen that myself, but looks like its experienced people only, as there wanting dno and "wood pole switching". would that be covered in ua1?
  17. cheers guys least i know im not miles out. no tree work at the moment and the properties are within walking distance so time not too much of an issue, think i might go in at 25/30 cos ill know theyll barter! cheers agian
  18. ive had a mate ring me and his parents own some properties and are looking for someone to keep the gardens something like, im just wondering on costs to charge. presuming that it generally just needs the grass cutting, im thinking 20 quid per property, reckoning itll be about two hours from leaving my garage to getting done. what do people reckon? its all well and good saying factor in costs etc, but if the average charge is a tenner im not gonna get the work. cheers in advance mike
  19. thing is the bigger companies like fountains subbie moest of there work out, so no jobs there, and the slightly smaller firms know the shortage of work and pay accordingly. i got offered a f/t job nr newcastle last year and they were only paying about 6.00/hour and that included a bonus because i had hgv!! and that was a national company. other large companies like the subbie idea so they can get shut of you with no notice, as ive found out myself a number of times.
  20. i slightly misunderstood your original thread. im lucky in that i have a finger in lots of pies so not too often stuck for work. but things will only get worse i think, more colleges put out more people with the tickets, who cant get any work with existing companies, so decide to set up themselves, crowding the sector even further. Granted its not everyone who sets up themselves, but it doesnt need loads.
  21. Without sounding harsh mate, your not the only one in this position there's people on here with more tickets, tools etc. looking aswell. So like others have said keep trying get what you can and if nothing comes up do something else. I've had three days in as many months doing tree work, so I've been and done some labouring, some driving and off doing six weeks tractor driving soon. so stop moaning and get out there and work.like I said I'm not been funny, just truthful.
  22. hi people, im struggling for work at the moment and was wondering if theres any training or grants available to self employed people? looking at doing something like a 360 course. cheers mike
  23. was impressed till it showed the hook arrangement, to clamp the tracks on. sayin that not sure id want to try it haha
  24. Yeah mate. Do you know of some goin?
