  7. i know climbers that do it and dont have a problem with it.i just cant get into it plus the added danger and potentially falling ill and having more time off keep me well clear of it. just wanted to hear the hardcores out their who crack on or the wimps that call it a day. im preparing myself for the "up north we just crack on you southern softy "bring it on.

  12. Crazy day that i need to get off my chest. day started out really well. 1st job easy sycamore takedown for our trainee climber, was nice to be a groundie for the day.problem was,job was right nr girls college, nice sunny morning totty all over the place, couldnt concentrate.job finished headin back to yard to drop off chips&logs, single lane goes into dual carriage way at the bottom of hill, starts picking up speed driving landy 130 fully loaded plus chipper old boy trying to cross dual carriage way to get to bus stop how i missed him i will never know, swerved left and right heading straight for him, manage to just miss him.pulled over angry and happy i missed him.he was sat in the bus stop totally unaware of just what nearly was his last few steps on the planet.crazy. dropped off load headed to arvo job,TPO cedar 25% red no dramas came up real nice. asian neighbour comes out at the end of job CAN YOU JUST please take away 20 plus black bags of garden waste that have been sitting in garden for god knows how long, yep £40 beer money for the boys, picked up 1st bag to find huge wasps nest ready to pounce, got stung on the hand then did a runner 100yds plus only to turn round and get stung just under the eye.nightmare. WHAT A DAY.
  13. took a half dead syc down a few months ago that was the same.tough call.climbed lots of dead dead trees, was just wondering what the views were on heartwood fungi.tough call, cheers peeps
  14. i did the latter today and got alot down quickly but dont think this is the way to do it.its a tough 1 but as we all know you dont get too many chances if you make the wrong call on something you cant see
  15. just wondered what the views are on climbers assessing a tree that has a heartwood decaying fungus and how they assess whether the tree is safe to climb, had 1 today
  16. as i said english climbers are sought after for lots of reasons.HGV is one of them but ive heard it from the horses mouth quite a few times.theirs plenty of reduction work out their in selected areas and companies.if your a gd arborist you will be paid accordingly.
  17. experience is everything out their m8 but you will def get a start
  18. if your any gd you could land on the weds and be working by the next mon.no worries
  19. the money can be gd if your gd they dont mind paying a gd wage if they know your a gd arborist but it takes a wee while to find ya feet unless you know someone in the know.its the lifestyle that you cant put price on
  20. spent 4 yrs out their doing tree work and they have their own style and are very good at large takedowns.english climbers are very sought after for lots of reasons as they dont have the NPTC set up,well they do but its only available at 2 colleges which only have longterm courses.a great place to work and the social side of treecare is a big thing out their.i think things are changing regarding the training. so so so many trees and so so many beautiful trees a fantastic place to work i highly recommend it m8
  21. im thinking it gonna be awkward m8 but he might surprise you.as you said he probably doesnt need the work.it can only go one of two ways thats for sure.good luck
  22. think scott forest won but not 100%
