  1. If you fancy traveling to Hertfordshire we could use a second climber on Friday. Ever topped Conifers?
  2. Yes. One has to go through due process, of course. No good just saying one is claiming land.
  3. He was constantly bartering and even tried to say I should go halves, I stood my ground and insisted. He then went on to say technically he was ok to fell the trees because the fence that he put up was on my side so the bit of land of mine on his side of the fence, he could technically claim squatters rights on. What I recall is that one cannot steal land, one can gain land by looking after it for 10 years without paying any rent. Squatters rights, again from the top of my head, also comes into play at ten years.
  4. Shuffling rocks! Not quite as cool as dancing though. Looks a bit like moonwalking crossed with feet too scared, or lazy, to come off the ground. I, momentarily, wondered if there was some epilepsy going on! Usually I shuffle in slip on slippers as my feet cannot do much else, but stand still, in them
  5. Looks like topping to me; although I do not know the reasoning for the work, as I have not read the thread.
  6. Lol, aye, that'll do it! Dean, how very tedious for you.
  7. Now I feel to lower it further by saying, "I like trees but I love wood more". Now that is out of my system, I shall endeavour to act like a lady or make ladylike comments
  8. When I hear 'I like trees but they get too tall' I struggle to refrain from exploding on the spot.
  9. Sorry to hear that. I trust you were insured. Most blatant thievery, I suspect no one saw anything either,eh? Bold as brass often works for untoward behaviour. People often ignore or miss things right under their noses. Be mindful that they may well have you marked for another visit once you replace your machine.
  10. Ditto, although some domestic clients will give a cheque upon completion.
  11. I live in hope of one day seeing that heavy plant crossing.
  12. Patchwork, is there not a way in which you can attempt to thwart this travesty of a tree officer? I was thinking that if you were shy to approach someone in a senior position to the TO, then perhaps media publicity could help. Obviously depends on how strongly you actually feel about the situation. One can be an anonymous source for the media, if you wanted to draw local attention to the matter.
  13. Do you think he is a not so secret tree hater? Perhaps, as child he ran into a tree and got a big bump and has hated trees ever since- thinks upon them as his arch enemy.... If you stab him in the eye with a pencil, it will not help him see the error of his ways. No, it will only encourage his enmity of trees, after all, pencils are made of WOOD I about fell out of my chair reading about being required to remove the flowers from Horse Chestnuts, and acorns, too! I have never heard of such a thing! If asked to do that I would visibly twitch, look volcanic/murderous/outraged, mention the absurdity of such a decision, go on about it some more, and then I would be unemployed! But righteous in my indignation, which can help stave off the hunger pains concumbent with unemployment! Still am muttering strings of blasphemy and swearwords....
  14. Very basic but worth doing/considering: stretch your thigh muscles, front and back, thoroughly, at least every evening after work, best if stretch am, too. If feeling generous towards yourself: make sure your legs are thoroughly stretched too. Tight thighs & legs = hard on knees. The bend of knees is dependant upon supple muscles above & below. If the knee bends well it absorbs shock of impact. p.s. inflammation is (generally) a response by the body to a cause.
  15. Bless his soul. Sorry for the loss of your friend.
  16. At first glance, it sounds about right. At second glance, it looks a bit different, unless you work(ed) for cash, in which case it is a bonus in your pocket. 8.5 hours of work (forget about breaks, as by law, you are entitled to breaks, all part of a working day) at £23.53 per hour. Do you have other people out working for you, whilst you are doing your round? If so, between each of you are you bringing in enough to meet your daily expenditure (overheads, expenses, purchases), and, preferably, exceed the total outgoings so you make a profit? If the answer is yes, then your £200 is a viable price.
  17. Yes, I wondered about that.
  18. Mr. Bish, are you friends with Mr.Bash and Mr. Bosh?
  19. LOL: yes, best not to jump to concussions!
  20. Its wonderful! Looks like an elephant it the second to last photo.
  21. Yes, you never know. Sometimes people surprise you- perhaps something good will come of one little call. If he had not thought about it it would not matter; that he's considering it means that he cares a bit. The world can always do with a few more people who care a little.
  22. Excellent! Yes, she looks happy! May your relationship flourish
