hey guy! anyone had any experience with Lindana TP chippers? Local plant firm have started stocking them and could be tempted to buy. They look well designed and constructed. Any info greatly appreciated

i dislocated my knee quite badly a few years ago and am still having problems! a day on spikes is torture! tried everything and got no where. a friend of mine is a power lifter and he suggested i try magnesium oil as its what he uses. i have to admit its great stuff! its not a cure but it eases the swelling in my knee and takes that horrible ache away. worth a look

she has four brothers lads! i think thats why she is so tough. i have her talked into just coming onsite as a bit of moral support for me and told her she would really annoy me if i saw her dragging, she only wants to come as she dosn't want me doing it all myself as there is only the two of us. no climbing jobs next few weeks just lots of conny bashing and handy fells so i will manage all right espically as a local hire firm has just got in a wee green mech push around chipper and lots of the clients will keep the chip. cheers again for the nice comments, they put a big grin back on her face

i am one lucky git! the girlfriend who is also my business partner and second climber fell and broke her arm on sat. she said it was nothing and stayed up all night drinking with the arm in a makeshift sling. tried to get her to hospital on sun but still said it was only a bad sprain and didnt need to go. we went out on monday and took down two gums and only after we finshed did she finaly agree to go and get it looked at!!!! she is now in plaster and told not to work foe 4-6 weeks and she is still insisting that she come on site with me as she has one good hand to drag with. the girls a legend

just hang in there! my girl and i had to give up our house after christmas because things got that bad but i refused to give up my landy and any work kit. we did anything to make ends meet( spent a week weeding gardens on my hands and knees but it kept the landy on the road) and thanks to my folks had a roof over our heads. now we are flat out and are looking to maybe take on some more hands to look after the firewood end of things. keep the head up you never know when that next big job will arrive

dont do them in autumn, they are sep to silver leaf. now should be fine if its only a few branches. i leave all my cherry reductions and prunes for this time of year if i can

i was told last week that i was very overpriced compared to two other firms that priced the same job. the job was to fell chip and remove all timber from 15 conifers with an average dbh of 20" and height of 30-40 ft all multi stemed and several have to be topped out before felling. i put 1500 on it as it was near my yard and handy for tipping and timber and thought i was doing it for a fair price. nobody wants to pay for anything at the moment. going to phone her back and say i will do it for cost and make my money out of firewood as it seems thats what everybody else is at

i use my old army deploment kit bag. it doubles as a good rucksack too, you can get them for about 15-20 quid from online ex army stores. been using mine for 4 years now and although it getting a bit tatty round the edges it will see this year out

just a word of warning to all the guys switching over to using the vt set up. IT CAN FAIL. A young chap i worked with for years was on the phone last week asking me to do a few of his regular costomers as he was hurt,. on further investigation it seems he took a 25 ft fall onto his back and has broken his back in several places. thankfully he can still walk but is in a cast from ass to armpit and is not able to work for a long time. It seems he could only get a line over a large lower branch on a storm damaged tree, he pulled himself up no problem then tried a branch roll but was ubstructed by some eppie so went to sit back onto his rope when his hitch didnt bite and he hit the deck. he was new to the vt and had recently got himself a tachyon rope but had used 13mm before that so i think that combination of new rope and hitch probably led to this fall. i have used the vt for years and love it but it can be tempremental and would never put less than 3 wraps on ( i think this guy had only 2 wraps ) and practice low and slow till you get the hang of it. climb safe guys

look on the new tribe website, they have small bags for slingshots i think. got a bolt for my crossbow of them but its a bit overkill, nothing over here big enough to use it on.

cheers guys thought it was a bit dodgy! just heard this morning that he tried to start the job yesterday but had to stop as he will need to get a CRANE in to finish the job!! he only has 200 quid on the job so unless he has a mate with a crane he has shafted himself. the funny thing is that there is a massive beech beside the tree and if he any idea what he was doing he could have rigged the lot of it and been finished for about 2 oclock. oh well maybe this will teach him to leave the tree work for the tree guys

what do you guys think on this? i lost out on a large ash pollard dismantle on fri at my local church. to get the job you had to put in a price and show all relevant insurance docs. when i didn't get it i just thought fair enough somebody has beat me on price. my uncle is a church elder so i asked who had got it and was amazed to find out it was a builder!! the builder has pl insurance but only take the odd tree down with his digger and has no tickets. the church thought that as long as you have pl it covers you for any work your business undertakes. surley this aint the case!!

looking good gareth! did you get much bother fromm the locals when doing the oak? anytime we did work round those parts involving big trees we always had a group of bored housewives causing grief and getting in the way
