    Sure, nothing ventured - nothing gained and you never know. I was told to put together the spec. I would like and it would be looked at. For the GAP spec GH 94BT - £ 2300 I recall.

    Yes, you mentioned full width in a prev. post I think and I will def. go for that. GAP spec. GH84BT is the 185/70R13 tyres 5 stud wheels. Not sure if that cranked GAP spec drawbar will effect anything ? - they said not - told just cranked so GAP panel van rear doors could open.

    So the smaller you split the firewood the less weight you would have per m3 - provided they had both been allowed to dry to the same MC?

    Of course - you hit the nail on the head - thanks. That's it then 200mm brakes it is. While you are about - what is your view on the the solid full width hole punched ramp 3 ft 9" versus 4' 9" long ?

    There is 'NOTHING' GAP spec out there. GAP spec. GH84BT is the 185/70R13 tyres 5 stud, HD jockey wheel, LED lights all round, double leaf springs, lowered swan neck draw bar to allow panel van doors to open. Ifor will not fit the larger drums, but I am sending another email that will reach the right dept. so lets see.

    Up to 5" dia Beech - forget doing that by hand! We use 1.5t steel tracked with ripper tooth for that spec. job and 7.5t steel tracked for anything larger. Done plenty 2ft dia. with 7.5t. Larger stumps removed need additional infill of course, but the machine is there to tidy up the site and track in.

    January 3'9" ramp, more like May for 4'9" ramp - GAP spec - just waiting for confirmation. Can't get a 3.5t rated GH84BT as needs 250mm brakes rather than the 2.7t 200mm. 3.5t double springs though. 3 factory's on 7 day week and still can't keep pace with orders!

    You find an crate 8" logs is lighter than the same crate of 12" logs when dried for the same amount of time, Ok, you may have weighed the 2 whereas I have not. but you will get far less m3 per tonne processing 8" as opposed to 12".

    That's exactly what I thought when I saw the original leaflet they produced - 2 years, yes that is exactly what is mandatory to tell them following the legislation enacted.

    Smaller logs, smaller air gaps, less m3/tonne - but yes, we do a LOT! of resplitting as drying time is always a bain.

    Fair enough if that give you the return you are after - I've never exceed 1.75/tonne average over all the log lengths produced - you must be getting all the dry roundwood !

    Way too lo cost Beau - sb 180 - 200 inc. Now that the legislation has been signed off, we all have to retail at sustainable prices. Remember you have document that the customer needs to keep it for 2 years before burning. There are no words that that will describe how the average retailer in the Firewood industry feels. Just have to take this one on the chin !

    Rob's posts were 11 years ago - I think he may be swamped with his Chainsawbars business these days to have the time produce much - I could be wrong? You can move mountains if you delegate - sometimes you just have to let go of some of the day to day tasks and trust others.

    Looks like I will be lucky to get a new standard GH 84BT before February, let alone a GAP spec. They offer 2 full width ramp options: 3ft 9" & 4ft 9" which gives a true 13 degree loading angle. Not sure what is the most practical ???

    Yes, spent my life with them in agriculture come to think of it - can be a sod to align, drop the R pin etc - it's a ball hitch then !

    I ring them tomorrow. Can't decide wether to go for pin or ball hitch? There is White Horse and a few others around Devon but I am not sure what they are like to work with. Looking for the GAP spec. and its basically down to who can realistically guarantee to supply the soonest and not let me down.

    Well the Jensen 540T is only 135mm longer than your TW with the TW tray up - do you think the Jenson will fit ?

    Yes, I believe it was. I thought about buying used but after speaking to others, it appears that several have spent a lot of cash going through everything to get them back to perfect condition. Heading downhill on muddy leaf covered lanes with a couple of tonnes up behind you need to be confident you can stop smartly. Looking at the price of used it doesn't seem worth the gamble and effort of travelling around the region looking. Besides finding a gap spec. GH94BT may not be so easy.

    Fair comments, but 99% of the time the largest item we would move would be Jenson 540T @1.4t or the Tracked dumper @1.2T. We have the tipper for everything else. I can see it works for you though.

    I met the Brother of the bloke who ran Win Pin about 19 years ago, he was a water diviner amongst other things and boy did he know his stuff. I can divine as can most people, but he was giving depths and flow rates - Jesus !!!

    1300mm = 5 ft 10 55/64 inches - So I was quite close with my estimate of 5ft 11 inches wide. Thanks for checking that ! How many trailers do you have there to be able to go out and give accurate measurements, when someone on a Forum asks a random trailer measurement question ?

    The width is a deciding factor - knowhere does Ifor W. give external dimensions but I am guessing most are 18" wider externally than internally - making the GH 1054 7ft wide, whereas the GH 94BT 5ft 11" wide. The Ranger is 5' 7 1/2 " wide and also it is all hills, tight access around our region which is why compact is good. 3.5T rating would be fantastic in a GH 94BT
