  1. Do you want to get rid of these? If so where are they? Thanks
  2. I think the Forum is a great place to crunch the numbers in an easy way, which allows many to actually consider if they are making money / can make money / or flogging a dead horse.
  3. It is to be aplauded knowledge sharing on a Forum and if others benefit because of a contributor's generosity, they get my respect that's a certainty.
  4. Thanks for the link.
  5. Ah, thats usefull data. Thanks again.
  6. Forest Fuels have a depot close to us - but you would not be keen on their prices! Still doing further research, so will keep you posted. As you are one of the largest consumers in the SW with loads of experience, would you care to put up some costings on the Forum? I for one would be very interested to see a business model that actually gives a reasonable return for selling G30 / 50 chip.
  7. Not sure how it is possible for a supplier to make a margin selling chip unless they own the woodland? e.g. Buy in chip size roundwood £35 tonne delivered / chipping costs / delivery costs to end user.
  8. You don't store timber in ibc's then chip surely?
  9. This is a very usefull post for many in the SW
  10. You know your stuff! Great if you own the land but most landowners want quick turnaround. What sort of drop in moisture level do you get on softwood / hardwood ?
  11. How do you time this procedure?
  12. That very usefull info. thanks. Often thought about asking to grade on unloading but my request may not be well recieved these days!
  13. Sour felling is not a term that is talked about very often, athough research has shown it can reduce the timber moisture levels.
  14. £ 8 per tonne? !
  15. How do you stack on flat and secure without bolsters?
  16. What are they paying if you don't mind me asking?
  17. The going rate per m3 for arctic loads of G50 chip seems to vary a lot in the SWest. Have you a figure in mind? Thanks
  18. I though you had a large scale setup down there, perhaps space with you is limited, which is why you need to buy in? I assume your boilers cope nicely with G50?
  19. If you were starting from scratch would you always produce G30 spec and get it contract chipped or is there a better business model? Good or bad, I always err on the side of a consistent quality product.
  20. I've been paying £195 HAULAGE for a 2 1/4 hour round trip unloaded to unloaded - maybe that is fair and your man is loosing money?
  21. RenewableJohn speaks words of wisdom - many would be wise to listen and learn.
  22. I've been paying £195 for a 2 1/4 hour round trip unloaded to unloaded - maybe that is fair and your man is loosing money?
  23. Does he have an hourly rate for his rig?
  24. Well that puts things into perspective!
  25. £250 sounds good - up to what distance?
