  1. Hi Robbo, Don't know who you have tried so far but Lumberjax Enviromental Ltd is based in Kilmacolm. They have just had a recruitment spree so may be looking for more workers.
  2. Well done Tuppy, Get your CV out there... ISS and Land Eng as well as QTS and Imries (Not so much Imries though)! I was in your position this time last year and was working 2 weeks after the course finished. Need any more info let me know.
  3. They look like they fell out of the Fugly tree and hit every branch coming down! Ours not to reason why, ours but to do and die.
  4. TWo more tree to take down and then tidying up for Friday wich would have been 10 days in all.
  5. Very confined space but once we had the 3/4 down in each section felling was good... had fencing 4m one side, buildings 8m other side... just very little space in all.
  6. This is an MOD site in Scotland. We did order a couple of skips but didn't need them here as the local farmers were more than happy to take everything, logs, chippings etc of our hands... took down about 45 trees... pics were taken yesterday!
  7. Pikeys up here are a lot more relaxed about stealing... they show up in numbers greater than the team and just take what they want... the lads aren't going to put up a fight (I don't blame them)! Gotta hate them...
  8. Got some lovely shots on here, makes me want to dig some pics out and throw them up.
  9. Just out of interest... what is the going rate for a job like that? Made me laugh!
  10. I went to college for a year to get my certs at 37, I'll be 39 this year and loving every minute of climbing... I learn something new every time I go up and long may it last!
  11. I did a couple of years in Mortars but alas we could only fire what we could carry (3 man teams, 4 rounds per man), it was from there I went on to do Sniper Cadre... ahh the good ole days.
  12. Guns as a hobby and in the right conditions can be loads of fun. I enjoyed them so much in the Infantry that it was the only thing I liked more than fitness. From the Browning 9mm to the LRR and L96 I loved them all... Where'd I put my medication?
  13. I can't see the problem myself it seems simple as for men if the women can get their tickets and pass the training good luck to them the rest is experience as with everyone that comes into our line of work.
  14. Congrats to the winner and 2nd place... lovely pics. Made up I got 3rd... thank you.

    Job Wanted

Hey Dude, I registered with complete tree care and they had work for me pretty much as I left college but I landed this job first.
  16. My S602z goes everywhere with me so When I'm not working I'm snapping away. The Highlands have a lot to offer a keen amatuer like myself
  17. Seven years as an infantry soldier followed by 10 years in IT I decided I wanted to get back outside. Got a prospectus from my local college and the kid in me voted for tree climbing. Was 18 stone at the tail end of the IT career now down to 15.5 and loving every minute of it!
  18. I've been working in my first tree related job now for three weeks and loving it after spending a year at college doing tree management and getting my CS 30, 31, 38 and 39... I put out 20 CVs when I finished college and got 3 replies back. Not on good money as I have a three month probationary period but I love the work and get to climb on a daily basis. At the tender age of 38 my fitness has not been this good since my army days. Thanks to the guys that do hire trained hands
  19. Just a quick hi from me and thanks for the invite Steve. Looking forward to getting to know you all
